Hi everyone, happy new year ! I am shortly going to be cutting a hole through an external cavity wall to fit french doors replacing an existing window. Before I start thought it was worth checking, the cuts in the inner and outer cavity should be inline with each other I take it ? For...

Removed wallpaper from ceiling. Now what?

I could be wrong but so long as all the paper is gone and there is no lumpy bits or damage then a PVA coat and skimming should do the trick ?

    Questions about a loft conversion

Re electrics, I am renovating a property at the moment including sorting out the existing horrible loft conversion. Soon as I got the keys I got BC over and got him to confirm a yes or no to their need for sign off on certain jobs. Electrics can be done so long as you can present a final...

Permitted development & lawful development certificates.

Couldn't agree more but I can't do anything about it. And before anyone says it yes I know it's pointless, probably illegal and very frustrating but it's the way it is for now.

mitre saw / skirting board disaster...

Looks like you are fitting the same skirting as me. I bought a 254mm sliding compound saw, works fine so far. I did have to adjust it when out of the box as some of the angles weren't quite right but this is normal. It was a EBaur one from ebay which was used but not much. If you are...

    Induction hob -diversity

Thanks John. 13.4kw = 58.26A ,minus 10A and 30% of the rest gives 29A I take it ? I was treating the 2 appliances separately hence an extra 10A

    LED flood lights - cheap

I just replaced my dads outside light with a 20 watt led pir floodlight that cost about 20 quid. When I took the connection box apart to connect in the internal wires were held together by plastic twist caps and the screws were so soft I stripped one just putting it back together. You get...

Correct method of wiring a double socket

Not sure if this has been covered already but I thought current guidelines were for a ring socket that an earth from each cable went to each of the earth connectors on the socket ? That's what the diagram shows in the current on site guide anyways.
