    False ceiling

Thanks. Will have a look in to that. 150mm just referring to the size of the metal studs? Sorry, not really that familiar with metal stud framing!

    End panels for kitchen

You mean an appliance end panel? That will go from the top of the wall units/larder cabinet, down to the floor too

    End panels for kitchen

With most of the howdens doors, you will want around a 20mm overhang from the carcus (Burford range etc). Just to be certain on the range you have, measure the thickness of your doors and add around 2mm to that figure. Always helpful to quick grip the panels in place before you screw. On the...

    False ceiling

Need to do a false ceiling in room that's approx 4500 x 4500. It will be down about 300mm from the existing lath and plaster ceiling, and ultimately just be a board and skim finish. What is the best way of doing this? Metal stud frame? Will that be strong enough across the whole span without...

    Core drilling.

Seriously, going through a single skin of brick you will be absolutely fine with that

    Core drilling.

As above, I've had a very similar Bosch model for 7+ years, which has probably done 25+ 117mm cores, and probably double that figure for 50mm cores, with a lot of chipping and drilling on top of that. Seems to still be holding up ok, which I'll admit has surprised me!

Yes, have a similar spec bosch drill and done a fair amount of core drilling with it, mainly 50mm and 117mm

    Party wall acoustic board?

Currently doing a refurb and trying to soundproof (well, not completely) the necessary party walls where I can. In the dining room I can only afford to lose 25mm max on the party wall due to the configuration of the stairs. Is it worthwhile dot and dabbing some 12.5mm acoustic board or will it...

    Digging out kitchen floor/ screeding

We have 100mm celotex followed by the 60mm screed. I naively assumed the electric heating mat would just go directly on the screed followed by slc? It won't be the main heat source for the kitchen, it's just to take the chill off the tiles.

    Between floors insulation queries

Ok thanks. I mean some of the floor space in the kitchen ceiling void will be boarded to provide some storage. Just wondering if 100mm of rock wool between joists will be sufficient for heat retention in the kitchen? Wanted to avoid 100mm celotex if possible due to cost, but if it will be far...

    Between floors insulation queries

After some advice regarding insulation between floors in a full refurb of our recently purchased house. Under the floors upstairs would it be suitable to lay 100mm of rockwool between joists? Or is it recommended to use an insulation with acoustic properties too? Downstairs is a mixture of...

    Digging out kitchen floor/ screeding

Hi Vinn - thanks for the reply, I didn't receive an email notification but have since turned it on. We have ended up screeding the floor to about 60mm, leaving it low enough to run an electric heating mat followed by self leveling compound. Everything went well!

    Digging out kitchen floor/ screeding

Currently in the process of a full refurb. The very old kitchen extension had a solid floor with no membrane/insulation and the screed was cracked and blown in a few places where it had been hacked around for pipework previously. I have broken up and dug down through the screed followed by red...

    Integrated appliance support panels

You don't strictly need the end panels, but in my opinion they will make a nicer job. It gives the end of the 2 units 'closure', and means the kickboard can but butt in to them.
