As previously mentioned most of the boilers noted will be acceptable. Most important thing is to ensure system properly flushed and treated. I also recommend fitting a filter such as the magnaclean or fernox units. Oh, and ensure its properly serviced every year !

I have a dreambox 500c running some form of linux. I could do with running a couple of commands as part of the start up of the box. Can anyone advise as to where I can put these commands so that they execute evert time th box starts ?

take 2 measurements as follows :- 1. From tip of left shoulder to tip of right shoulder 2. From ar*e cheek to level with belly button. If either are less than 500mm you should be able to get in the shower ! Merry Xmas !

Ignition PCB's can give intermittent faults on these and Mynutes, although I've also had a similar fault with the gas valve on one of these. Think I may have both parts in my garage (from a previously de-comissioned boiler)

you are probably kicking the boiler into action by knocking a dry joint or bad connection on the pcb. Fix is easy - fit a new boiler !

Are you sure the condensate path is clear ? You really do need to check it properly. If you are 100% then it could be a few things :- Gas valve Ignition electrode Flame sense electrodes PCB amongst other things ?

sounds like your cold feed is partially blocked causing slow filling/pressurisation of the system. You would probably need to cut this pipework out and replace as this is very hard to clear. If you could get mains pressure on to it somehow it may help. The worcester syphon fill program works...
