Always strip the backing paper..it was originally intended to act as a lining for more paper..but it never work and nearly always bubbles..not worth the risk

What was you papering over ?..vinyl silk?....gloss? Also...did you following the hanging instructions?

Thinned pliolite on the new bits will be fine..its self stabilising... Theres no need to thin the first one as the walls look like that they bene painted before...as Rob says Dulux all seasons pliolite does come out a bit on the thin side (like the water based masonry) ...you can always use...

Youl need to paint it with an etch primer first...then a couple of coats of black...id use eggshell as opposed to gloss its harder wearing
