    In a word..NO...strip the walls first..you will be throwing money away by papering over paper. One of the biggest no no's in decorating.

    PVA isnt a sealer...it will turn white as soon as it gets wet

    Thats not always the case...if the pattern is non symetrical it wont work...you have to set it out differently so it creates a balanced effect.

    Id suggest taking the plasterboard down and re doing it The Plasterboard isnt a fire hazard..but if this is a concern then id recommend fireline boards

    I think Gardinia is a far 'fresher; option than Maggy.. Almond white is a nice one too... But I would go for white ceilings Almond white walls and a tint of Almod white on the woodwork to give a softer cooler look Natural Calico and antique cream are also nice colours.
