Atag and Intergas - New to me

Indeed...good point Razor. Makes it a bit easier to decide just on quality and support.....

Flow Improvement with full Bore Isolator Valves ?

Thanks Omega. I didn't think it would make a lot of difference either given its a thermostatic mixer fed by 15mm from a system boiler via an unvented cylinder. Current shower performs fine as its under decent pressure already given the setup. The pipes are inside a wardrobe next to the shower...

Flow Improvement with full Bore Isolator Valves ?

Would there be a noticeable difference in the performance of a shower if I replaced the standard isolating valves on the feeds with full bore valves ?

Help please boiler won't turn off.

The experts can answer that as it puzzled me when I had the exact same problem recently but mine was on the hot water side of things. Turned out to be the two port valve stuck and constantly calling "more"

Atag and Intergas - New to me

Same with most things of course. Look after it and it will last a decent time, subject to it not being pants in the first place of course. But to be fair everything I read about Intergas and Atag is focused on the quality of the build. Take out the bias in some boiler opinion, which is...

Atag and Intergas - New to me

The challenge for the customer is who do they believe. In the end you make your decision on the advice of the , hopefully, professional. Also plenty of professionals have varying opinions depending on their training, sponsor, discounts and so on. The average punter can never be certain what has...

Atag and Intergas - New to me

Its a good point. I'm happy to explore the options other than the normal culprits. For the reason that I have a 27 year old boiler thats still going but one day it will fail and whilst "they don't make 'em like they used to" the closest modern one will do which from I read is either of the two...

Atag and Intergas - New to me

Reading more threads it seems both Intergas and Atag both get high ratings from people here. Expensive but worth it is what I see. I have an unvented system so would be looking to replace a heat/system boiler with like for like. Both seem to have excellent warranties and customer support and as...

Atag and Intergas - New to me

Like most consumers I have read lots about the usal bolier types such as Worcester, Baxi, Vailant, Viesman and so on. But reading an interesting thread here about Atag and Intergas I was surprised buy how well people rate them and the good support they provide. Especially against how well known...

Unvented System - Should I go Combi or System Boiler

Blimey... good old plain English. Not surprised as that is what "you" get here. But excellent replies.... thank you. I fully understood and made my mind up to go with the system boiler and not rip out , in effect, the unvented system which we like. Thanks again

Unvented System - Should I go Combi or System Boiler

Having gone unvented back in 2004 ish I am debating whether when replacing the boiler its "sensible" or even the right thing to do to just go for a combi boiler rather than another system boiler...Baxi or Worcester.... as its looks logical to keep the unvented which is a nice system and replace...

Leaking Towel Radiator Valve - Unvented

Thanks flameport. I learn something every time I post here. I thought the towel rad was connected to the hot water system as its nearly aways hot even when the heating is off. I must read up a bit more. Appreciate the advice as well (y)

Leaking Towel Radiator Valve - Unvented

So I turned off the towel rad valves to cool it and rubbed it down and painted in Hammerite Radiator paint. Looking good I thought. Then I noticed a dirty little puddle by the valve on my nice new shiny bathroom floor. Water was leaking from the top of the valve. All the nuts were tight and...

That's more like it. Decent range. Thanks Madrab

    Cistern Doughnut probelm

Having a mare trying to locate a donut that is suitable. Its a 1 1/2" as stated before and need to be at least 90mm to cover the hole and the usual 20mm thick. Lots of 2" ones available and even the likes of Plumbase or Plumbcentre don't seem to carry much of a range. As above I was looking at...

    Cistern Doughnut probelm

Oh yes...... Looking at a 1 1/2 inch foam doughnut with outside diameter of 90 mm to make sure it sits on the hole properly. I'm sure rubber is fine but I don't think my cistern likes them. Probably the design of course. But given the spare rubber one should have fitted but just wouldn't...

    Cistern Doughnut probelm

I'll do that thanks. Problem with the old one is that it is being pushed inside the flush hole and not sealing. The spare came with the plate and new screws in a kit when I replaced the cistern flush a while back. But it's not 1.5 inch so just wrong. But off to my local merchant tonight

    Cistern Doughnut probelm

Ive tried that but the replacement is just too wide and doesn't want to play. Its 100mm wide compared to the 82 mm that was in there. Shouldn't make any difference I know but just doesn't want to compress and I just end up bending the metal plate that the bolts sit in. It feels like the same...

    Cistern Doughnut probelm

I think I got away with it last time. But yes, new doughnut required. To be fair its in perfect nick...to look at. Outside diameter of the old one is 82mm and a 44mm hole but it has got a hex cutout for the syphon nut which seem hard to find

    Cistern Doughnut probelm

So Im just finishing and fitting the cistern onto the close coupled pan and water leaks out when flushing. So I remove the cistern and the doughnut looks Ok but maybe a bit easy to push in the hole. So I have another doughnut but its much thicker and bigger. It seals the hole OK but the cistern...
