Oil fired boilers can be sited upstairs without any problems provided they are fed by a suitably designed fuel supply system (personally due to the weight I would not do this unless absolutely no alternative - but technically no reason for not doing it) :?

I assume this boiler is actually a Grant Combi 70 MkII?? if so the factory made pipe work is no longer available, you will need to make up new copper manifolds using brassware, copper pipe and fittings - it may be better all round to up-grade to a new boiler such as The Grant Vortex Combi 21...

Is your programmer a Honeywell ST9400?? if so it is probably faulty (this is a known fault) :wink:

Usually due to a failing HW Thermistor but could be scale in plate HE, or the store is not at full temperature - the source boiler's thermostat should be set to Max :wink:

try new Ignition electrodes First! these are notorious for not producing a spark due to leaking to earth through the insulators also check condition of HT leads, if the Transformer is shot you usually get a burning smell it is a Cofi 822 my cash is on the Electrodes! :wink:

I think you will find it is older than 2002!! I'd say 1992 at the latest!! long since obsolete I would ditch it and put in a nice Grant external wall mounted which will save loads of fuel :wink:

Your OP states that you don't want the expense of Renewables as you will be selling the property on so put in OIL it would be the cheapest option and cheaper to run than LPG or Electricity never mind the RHI - you won't be there to reap the rewards :wink:

Oil is still the best fuel if mains gas is not available and lately has been slightly cheaper than Gas!! go for an oil fired condensing boiler to heat UFH and un-vented hot water cylinder/s THERE IS STILL A GOOD FUTURE FOR OIL FIRED HEATING IN THE UK! :wink:

I also have 1 last FZ cell - but it won't put that boiler right I'll bet he needs an MSLA pump coil (I have 4 of those!!) :wink: I'd have that boiler running again in less than 1 hour but I'm probably too dear! :lol:

Check the non Return valves fitted to your shower could be a back flow when upstairs taps are operated :wink:

You clearly do not understand how a UFH controller operates, each thermostat operates a Zone input, which in turn supplies one or more thermic actuators connected to that particular zone, in addition a pump relay is energised when any of the stats call, and will switch off when the last stat is...

I did tell you what to do about the pressure problem in my last post!! EXPANSION VESSEL re-charge with air. If you turn off the valve below the vessel in you latest pic you will introduce yet another fault as it is the fuel supply to the burner - don't knock your Service Engineer for leaving...

is the problem with ALL upstairs taps - or just the Shower?? if only the Shower, then there lies your problem :wink:
