    Where's the water coming from??

Is there a gutter above this window sill? Does water leak from the gutter onto the sill? It looks like rather a lot of green on the wall around that area so I can't help but think it looks like a lot of water is "arriving" there from somewhere?

    Touring Caravanning anyone?

I bought a huge, twin axle caravan for myself, my wife and my two sprogs to live in for "two months maximum" while our house was being extended. We ended up living in in for most of the year having been let down by the builder but it actually worked out well as Covid started and we used it for 4...

    Thinking About A New Car

I don't understand, short trips and low mileage are the perfect conditions for an EV. No excessive emissions while the engine is warming, no waiting for the engine to warm for the heater to work, no (local) emissions in towns. If I only had short journeys and low mileage trips I would definitely...

    Thinking About A New Car

I bought and then rather promptly sold a BMW i3 (it was a REX which I had to fill the tiny petrol tank every 2 days) for the simple reason that I cannot use it for my journey to and from work and I'm not stopping to charge during that journey. If I could have justified the cost, I would have...

    Thinking About A New Car

I'd avoid the complexity of hybrids if it was me, they only really save on fuel on journeys that involve a fair bit of stop-start. I'd also only buy an Electric vehicle if I had no plans for long journeys with it. I still like diesels but I would also not buy a diesel that uses Adblue, again...

Can condensate pipe be connected to washing machine standpipe like this?

it's not resting on the shelf. I wonder water a couple of kilos of water at 80 degrees might do, especially if the pipe outside is just aimed down at an external gully. For the sake of a few clips and raw plugs and about 20 minutes work, I know I would not take the chance....

    Dishwasher door hard to open

I should add, the top of the kickboard could have become swollen by water from the dishwasher, especially if it has had the top trimmed off and no silicon applied (a problem I'm painfully aware of!).

    Dishwasher door hard to open

Check it is not scraping against the kickboard. If it is just about touching, the feet on the dishwasher could be raised by a nats...

Can condensate pipe be connected to washing machine standpipe like this?

Looks like it needs clipping to the wall but that's all I can see wrong with it. I would treat that as an urgent matter given the type of fittings as it could rotate forward away from the wall and leak lots of water if it does so...

Found a credit card. Anyones on here?

Can't help but think it was not really a well known expletive way back then. When I had occasion to phone them, they always answered as "Kerr Instruments" and given the amount of stick that their reps and field techs used to take, they certainly knew that their name was something of a laughing...

Found a credit card. Anyones on here?

I used to work as a test engineer years ago and the company that supplied out oscilloscopes was called "Wayne Kerr Instruments". My boss was always very childish and gave their rep a lot of stick.... The company still exists and their website is actually Waynekerr.com!

That doctor in the covid ward on the news last night.

I normally bow out of these discussions but this is one that riles me, I had a very close call with COVID and although I do have a co-morbidity, I am likely to live for at least another 30 years. If I had died from COVID, it most certainly would not just be " shortening my inevitable death"...

    Hardcore for new driveway

I'm no expert but I have a thought that might make you feel better (or possibly worse) about the initial "hardcore". I'd grab a handful of it and mix it with water, if you find it making a mud pie, it's full of soil, if it remains sandy and does not go at all sticky, then you probably have some...

    Bloody dpf blocked

Bear in mind most manufacturers have their gauge read "in the middle" to keep the driver happy. It does not show actual temperature, a VW will show 90 on the gauge from just above 60 to just above 100 degrees before it shows much different. This is very obvious once the coolant temp is check via OBD

    Bloody dpf blocked

A widely overlooked cause for DPF blockage is over-cool running. The DPF will not attempt to regenerate if the engine has failed to reach operating temperature and if it is running too cool the engine will naturally generate more soot in any case. Use a cheap OBD2 diag tool to check the engine...

selective traffic cameras seem to be switched off

I used to work for National Highways (formerly Highways England), I now work for their largest "Area Team". We do not block access to any cameras unless there are images that would cause upset or harm and by that, I mean deceased persons etc. We most definitely would not block any camera showing...

No deadlier than the flu you say? lololol

I had Covid, my illness started on 15th November, so it was probably Delta. I do have some pre-exsisting conditions having spent a long time in ICU with Sepsis in 2008 and I believe that is why I suffered so bad with Covid. I narrowly avoided hospitalization with my 02 saturation around 90-92...

    Air Source Heat Pumps…

    Air Source Heat Pumps…

My system at 80 degree C ain't far off! it's a two stage unit that uses two types of refrigerant with R134 in the second stage. The first stage pre-heats it's refrigerant and if further heat is required, it is heated further using the second stage.
