I have an external blockwork wall which I wish to render then paint. The builder's merchant sells plastering sand. Does anyone know what type of finish this will give? I have rendered a wall using sharp sand and normal builders sand in the past. How does the plaster sand compare? Thanks in...

    dulux trade supermatt question

I spoke to Dulux and they said that for plaster drying out inside 30 days you can prime with Dulux Supermatt (3 parts paint/1 part water) followed by the relevant finishing coat (in my case they gave the thumbs up to vinyl matt and water based eggshell).

    Dulux Trade coverage

Hi Can anyone shed some light on the coverage claims of Dulux trade paints? On all the tins of vinyl matt it says that it covers up to 17sq m per litre. I have never got anywhere near this coverage (I have just used 5 litres to cover a 35 sq metre ceiling giving me 7 sq m per litre, and...

    Right Angled Rads

Hi There I need to move a 1200mm wide standard double convector rad to make way for a doorway. The only place I can move the rad to is a corner with 600mm available on each wall. Is there a rad which is formed at right angles (so it looks like an L shape as you look down on it) so it fits...

    Removal of Oil based glaze

Nestor Thanks for the reply, very informative. I think in this case the texture is not very pronounced for any scraping or filling of the gaps. We try to avoid the re-skimming of the walls if possible. How would this work? Rub down the walls with 120 grade abrasive. One coat of PVA...

    Removal of Oil based glaze

Hi Can someone advise on the options available to decorate over a wall which has had a paint effect which has been sealed with an oil based glaze.
