    Plumbing sink waste

Keep it simple! See below link: http://www.mcalpineplumbing.com/traps/sink-plumbing-kits/1-189-bowl-and-a-half-sink-kit.html Sometimes the relevant waste kit comes with the sink, but that only happens when a plumber orders it normally! Good luck.

Wireless Replacement for Drayton RTE thermostat

Hi Anthony, I see what you're saying, but please remember when placing room thermostat: not near a heat emitter, not in a room with a thermostatic radiator valve (they can conflict) and in the coolest part of the house which in theory requires the most heat, unless you specifically want it in...

Mira Advance ATL Thermostatic shower reset

How is the shower fed? And have you had any work done to your cold water system? These seem fairly sensitive, had a few do this after works have been completed, normally undo the cold water connection a LITTLE BIT until water comes through. Shower should start up fine, if air was the original...

Wireless Replacement for Drayton RTE thermostat

You're fitting the thermostat receiver where the old thermostat was? Instead of fitting the thermostat where the old thermostat was? Drayton is 3 times the price as it has a reputation of 3 times better and I'd imagine build quality/usability close to 3 times better. Accelerator is how...

    plumbing and heating trouble

Lee, you've replaced the parts and unfortunately the bit you are struggling with is normally gained from experience. I would cut your losses and call a plumber in, it won't be as expensive if you're certain no other parts need replacing. Otherwise you might drop your laptop in the f+e tank...

Hot water to basinsuddenly stopped working-not the tap?help!

OK - I guess the bathroom is fairly new. Unless you installed it, and can answer, are you sure there is not a separate isolation valve under the floor? And you have had hot water from it before? Not just water, as some mixer taps let by from hot/cold side dependant on taps valve.

Hot water to basinsuddenly stopped working-not the tap?help!

MAL99: just to clarify, you have a hot and a cold tap on the basin, not a mixer tap?

    Mains flush vs Powerflush

HERTSDRAINAGE2010: very true! Sorry, I didn't word it right, I meant from an installer point of view. Why would you power flush over mains flush and vice versa? It's nice to get the point of view outside your own working habits sometimes.

What's the general view here of a mains flush c/w cleaner compared with a powerflush?

The "inflated self employed hourly rate"

Johnmelad, I do operate to a price, I was just stating how some customers seem to break a price down on false pretences. The timescale issue was just an example of time related comments I've read. Some customers may hang around with a stopwatch? But seriously, some customers are in when work...

    25mm mdpe X 3/4" female connectors

I am pretty certain they don't make these fittings, at least off the shelf anyway. I have only seen plastic fittings with metal band around the BSP end to add support, nothing to do with making it fool proof to cross thread! All I can say is, go careful when winding in your threaded pipe...

The "inflated self employed hourly rate"

I have been reading through the Trade Talk section a fair bit, and have started to become drawn in by the disgruntled customers who use there trade knowledge; internet materials prices (brand not relevant) and the Building Standards. It has continually baffled me as to how they get to the...

    solar therma. and MCS registration.

I am sure it will pick up again as the PV boom calms, as it seems to be. Yes that's what we have found, people who want it, will have it regardless if we are MCS or not as they don't seem to know, or care of any grants. I am happy to offer a discounted price off my own back to not go through the...

    solar therma. and MCS registration.

GreenCat saved me. We were due for our 2nd yearly audit for our MCS accreditation, solar thermal only. I have not used it for two years, well if I'm honest, maybe twice; getting our paperwork in place for inspections.... It has offered me nothing at all, we have been installing solar...
