Sorry, I didn't word it right, I meant from an installer point of view. Why would you power flush over mains flush and vice versa? It's nice to get the point of view outside your own working habits sometimes.
if you have arcs of sludge in rads and hardened deposits inside pipework then you need a powerflush, as long as its done properly, good chemicals heated up past 60C will break down the sludge and make it easy to flush out.
Mains flush is ok if the system is relatively clean but you want to flush out any loose debris, a small amount of sludge in rads is often loose enough to move with good water flow. Also good for flushing out used chemicals and flux(after heating the water first).
