Which model of Kingspan / Celotex is right for me?

Have always been very suspicious of this type of multi foil type stuff, seemed that highly contentious claims were made as to its R or U values and many of the products did not have Irish acreditation or British kitemarks, which meant only one thing to me they did not do what it said on the tin...

    RENDERING DETAILS

I havent used a bell cast bead in Donkeys years. The 2x1 lath method is far and away better. Scratch coat the whole wall from top to bottom dropping a nail lightly into the dpc course so that you know its position. Using 70mm steel (masonary nails) tack up the 2x1 till you have a good hold...

Best method / tools for removing plaster?

Chase a line across with a bolster at designated height better still an angle grinder if the room is clear so as not to disturb the plaster above the working area. If you can get a decent heavy duty drill with a chisel stop function this will beat the labour intensive hammer and bolster or even...

Which model of Kingspan / Celotex is right for me?

The cold bridging of the timber stud is not the factor that causes interstitial condensation and to claim the density of the board has any bearing is nonsense. I could explain why but I cant be bothered.

Which model of Kingspan / Celotex is right for me?

Ahh Reg I did not realise you were the next door neighbour who pops around to dip celotex T break in Stevies Coa Coa. I did not see the constitution of the wall elevations described by Steve so how is it you can assertain that interstitial condensation would be problematic. ? Only certain...

Which model of Kingspan / Celotex is right for me?

Celotex T - break sounds like something you would dip in your tea. Why is there a constaint of adding a single more inch to the wall out of curiosity when the U value of 50mm Therma board (Celotex or Kingspan) would clearly be fit for purpose.....Why spoil the ship for an apeth of tar ?

PLastering up to an internal ceiling apex.

Do it with a bucket of stiffish bonding, add three good large gaugeing trowells of hydrated lime to the mix, dubb it out firstly then lay it over to get the curve, will trowell up within half an hour and be skimmable after an hour, because of the lime reacting with the bonding. Gives no problems...

Building on the seafront and thermal mass

Any new type rigid insulation that meets current regs would surfice, by this I mean not to skimp by using rockwool type or polystyrene type in batts form but rather Kingspan foilbacked, better again than Kingspan would be to build with a 100mm cavity and go for full blown in insulation in...
