the switch is not the problem then. so the boiler lights & you get no hot water whatsoever ? does it stay alight ?

what you propose should be fine. pumping a different chemical through the heat exchanger alone would be better but would be an awful lot of work.

so, does it actually activate the microswitch, does it click ? does it light ? if not, have you tried linking out the switch ? have you put a meter on the switch connections ?

the pressure within the expansion vessel will require checking/recharging, see faq. the expansion vessel connection may be blocked. but i'm not familiar with your particular boiler. the safety valve/pressure relief valve (prv) will probably require changing. Agile beat me to it.

drain the heating & flush it. remove a rad valve. pour the stuff down a funnel into the pipe, refit rad valve, refill, vent, repressurise.

it is that simple. behind the knockout on the boiler there will be wires waiting for you in a connector block. the L & N power the clock motor & the other two are the live to the heating in & out. there will be a simple diagram with the clock. i would recommend the simpler electro mechanical...
