Ravenheat Combi bolier - central heating not working!

Room Stat and/or Central Heating Temperature Selector on the front of the boiler need turning up. Clock needs setting to ON/Constant. If the above fails, but your HW is working, call an RGI.

Baxi Combi Instant 105e - no hot water

Before looking at the Secondary Heat Exchanger and PCB... Did you not think to check if the DHW Microswitch was fully making, and consider checking/replacing the DHW Diaphragm? It's an intermittent fault, and could be a number of things, but that's a much cheaper & easier thing to check.

Time for a new boiler but everyone's advice is conflicting!

Great Post from Simondo there... As has been mentioned; The system will usually only be as good as the money you spend on it. The questions you're asking aren't all worth answering, but your best bet is to get some local engineers to come and quote and get a quote from British Gas...

Why are you even bothering to ask? Just do it.

    Sludged up boiler

Sounds like a good outcome for you, but I'm also intrigued! What was you quoted for the flush and filter?

    Noisy Vaillant Ecotec plus combi

As mentioned, its a RGI issue buddy, and you will need a Telegan.

I replaced the fuse and all is well. Thank you all for replying!

    Consumer Unit

I know its cliche for a regular poster (and registered Tradesman (GAS)) to be asking, but... What's a typical price to pay, to have a Consumer Unit replaced? The one in my property is the 'old style' apparently, as a fuse blew the other day and I went to get one... It's a 230v 30A fuse...

    Genuine Advice please...

I'll get details later this evening, its a property I'm renovating... I 'think' its a Gardtec? It's got 3 movement sensors downstairs that currently don't seem to work. The alarm went off for about 5 minutes and then died, the keypad's still make noise and I can set a 'personal alarm'...

    Genuine Advice please...

I'm a regular poster on the Gas & Plumbing sections... Hello Alarms, CCTV & Telephones! The reason I am posting in here today is, I've cut through an alarm cable at my property (like a dope!) I tried, as you do, to piece the ends together and see if the alarm would just work again... Alas...

    rolls royce system advice pls....

Aside from going down the Vaillant route, this is probably the best advice you've been given on here smurf. Vaillant are brilliant. I have just installed one myself (EcoTec Exclusive) and I must say I really am impressed. I repair boilers, and I rarely come across Vaillants or ATAG, but...

    cross over pipes

What it's cost you in pipe and plastic fittings, you could probably have had a plumber or plumbers apprentice do it in copper for a fairly similar price. I cannot stand plastic!

    NVQ level 2??

I haven't fully read the thread, but in answer to an earlier question; Can you do what Saint is doing? Yes, you can. Saint is not actually doing his NVQ. He will have been told he is, but he actually isn't. He's doing his Technical Certificate. Very similar, and also comes with a...

British Gas. Everyone else is trying to copy something they've mastered.

    OV/CF: close coupled or combined?

I'd be tempted to sort the pipework out whilst you have the chance. It looks like a more traditional setup, with the cold feed coming in on the return. So I'd be tempted to put the cold feed on the flow, after the open vent and before the pump. If my memory serves me right, it should be...

    Britony 80 wont light up

First things first... Do you have gas, water and electric. Are they ALL working? When did this first happen? Does the Central Heating OR Hot Water work at all?

Correct way to isolate hotwater with a combi

Seems though nobody has replied.... Yes! However, don't isolate below the boiler (on the jig) as they almost always leak! Hot water sequence begins with a flow of water. If you prevent the flow, we have no sequence.simples.

    Pipe identification colours

Sounds like a grand idea. Gas is Ochre Yellow to be prescise, but Yellow should suffice. I have always coloured my pipes; Gas - Yellow Flow - Red with 2 Black Marks Return - Blue with 2 Black Marks Cold Taps - Blue with 1 Black Mark Hot Taps - Red with 1 Black Mark

    Conventional boiler troubles!

If space is tight and you have a chimney a backboiler may be sufficient, but they can still be quite expensive. BAXI recently launched a condensing range with or without electric fire fronts.

Gas meter in detached garage, boiler in house.

There are several things you will have to consider; The pipework must be buried to a minimum depth dependant on what traffic is to be expected above, usually 375-450mm. The pipework will also need to be protected using a suitable means. The pipework entering the property will have to be...
