Joining lead pipe to copper pipe

Yup, take a bit to the merchants and they should do a lead compression joint to copper. Failing this it's quite east to attach copper to lead, some people make it sound too difficult, is an art, etc... Just ream out the end of the lead, allowing the copper to to go inside about an inch. buy...

RE: the corgi bod will tell you. The porch is being built next week, the boiler isn't due to be moved for about a month, hence easy to put a ventilation brick in during construction... I'll dig out the installation guide... Thanks (and Re Frost Stat)

Combi-condensing based system - pipe diameter?

Use 22mm for main flow/return with 15mm feeds to the rads. I used Hep20, pulls through upstairs joists like cable ! No hacking the joists to bits and using cover plates... I didn't use plastic because I cant bend or solder copper, it has many benefits over copper.

Need to review water system after large extension

yeah, had that mentioned, guess I'll have to run the cold feeds from a tank in the loft as keeping the colds mains fed will reduce the pressure of the hot .... I have a new loft now the double height extension has been built, but didn't want to clog it up with a tank ! Just got rid of one from...

    Inop brake lights

Nope, legally not allowed to have red indicators on UK plates, but is ok for 3 months before you have to register it. "Legally" having amber indicators are not legal unless they conform to certain conditions, such as brightness, viewing angle, and the major one - having to have "E" marked lenses...

    Inop brake lights

10 years behind ? They had electric windows, roofs, seats, auto-dipping lights back in the 50's. Heads-up displays in the early 80's and their strict emission controls some of the cleanest engines available ! (cat converters in the 70's along with unleaded petrol) They had high-level third...

    Inop brake lights

I remember seeing a bulb failure warning device once, was an outline of a car which was stuck to the dash and had a number of fibre optics which you route to the apporiate bulb/cluster. So when the bulb was on, it would be reproduced on the dash display. I'm sure BMW, Volvo or someone fitted...

Flashing On Slate Roof Against Stone Wall

What about flashing tape ? give it a good key, and paint on some primer Does seem cheap and inferior solution to lead, but i used this as a tempory fix against a pebbledash wall/roof and 10 years later - no problems... You could actually tuck lead under it, using the "tape" as the...

    Roof windows

I've got the "builders" in at the moment. The original plans did not include roof windows so is not included in the price and I decided I need them. The builders will fit them but I want to source them, as if let to the builders, they will add their "bit" on top - and we don't want that, do we...

pitch is 22%. Understand about doubling up on the joists as fitted two in the garage roof recently. Perhaps i'll need to fit more smaller ones... but that increases the cost. Any recommendations of suppliers ? London area pref' but I know most companies will deliver.

    Roof windows

Anyone recommend a supplier for velux or velux type roof Windows. Velux don't seem to make the large size I wanted, approx 1300 X 1000 (or there abouts). The "loft shop" windows come in 1200 X 800 As they will be for an exposed pitched kitchen extension, having remote operation would be good...
