    Best stud finder

Personally I find my drill never finds timber studs but is perfect for finding pipes and cables.

Thanks for that :) Makes sense. I quite fancy the idea of putting in drains as a project, but yours may be a much more achievable solution ;)

Thanks yeah I saw that page but most of it makes very little sense to me. I've never mixed or worked with concrete before. Complete novice.

    So much Spam?

I moderate a vBulletin forum that has an add-on called Spam-O-Matic. I don't know if something similar is available for PhPBB, but if it is, it makes life so much easier. You can remove all posts from a specific user with one click, and their IP and other details are forwarded to "Stop Forum...

Brilliant link thanks. My one question: what's C25 concrete?

Concrete Base spec for Garden Office?

Before you commit to concrete have a look at the Hawklok product. I've not used it myself yet, but I know folks who have and they say it's very good, and much cheaper than concrete. Perfectly adequate for a timber structure.

Selling House - Survey flagged items for concern

Surely if the survey has valued the offer as reasonable then it's the buyer's problem?

    Drainage Channel

Morning all - hope this is the right place. If it's not please someone move it :) My block paving drive slopes slightly down to my garage and as a result when it rains some of the water always ends up flowing into my garage. It's not been a massive problem as I just don't store anything on...

Best way to use silicon sealer

Make sure when you're running your finger along the edge it doesn't rub against any exposed sharp edges near the work though. Particularly as silicone really smarts in a cut. Sadly speaking from experience here!

    Screw into cheap door

I want to put a hook into the door of our understairs cupboard so that we can hang a bag on it to hold all our empty plastic bags for re-use. The door is one of those doors that looks solid, but is actually a veneer over a cardboard "waffle" (no idea what it's really called just sounds good to...

The Man Cave : A garden office (aka fancy shed)

Just a thought, but I'm guessing you'll be adding some sort of power storage for the Pi's then? Don't want to assume, but I just had to  at the idea of a security cam server hooked up to a night-vision cam that doesn't actually work at night :D

Patio weeds on possible property purchase...anything nasty??

Agreed - nothing a bit of weedkiller (and maybe a good resand of the paving) can't cure. Marestail has feathery leaves like this: knotweed looks like this:

    cash gift from relative

As far as I know you should just have to pay an inheritance tax on it, but it is pro rata. In other words you just pay 2 7ths of the tax as that is all that is left of the 7 years. To be sure though the best thing to do would be to phone HMRC IMO.

    Unwanted mushrooms growing!

There will be something nice and tasty for them slowly rotting under the lawn. Short of digging it all up and probably not finding the food source, I'd say just whip them off whenever they grow. They'll be gone soon enough.

    Door handle screws

Ah yes just the ticket. Many thanks. And there's a Screwfix down the road too. Even better. :D
