    Crumbling underlay for laminated flooring

I'm in the process of removing lino and hardboard. I noticed though there is underlay in the adjacent kitchen that looks like it's crumbling. What is this stuff made of and why is is crumbling like this? Also, is it a health hazard as I need to remove is part before the lino can be laid

Had a plumber around to fix a leaking toilet. He cemented around the soil pipe but the cement on the left hand side is above the level of the flooring

I had a plumber fix my leaking toilet by cementing around the soil pipe. The trouble is the cement on the left hand side is above the level of the flooring. I can't put marine plywood over the flooring so can the cement be ground down with an angle grinder to make it level?

Solid connection and no leaks or smell I flushed the toilet several times to see if there was any water around the pan connector and the pipe. The chunk of cement was around the base of the connector. There is still a chunk attached to the other side. I can't understand the rest of what you have...

    Rotten toilet floorboard

I found a rotten floorboard next to the toilet. It seems as if the joist on the left is lower than the right one. There also seems as if a chuck of cement has come away from the cylindrical tube at the back. The joists are Sound. Is this a complicated job to fit a floor board?
