    Embedding CH pipes

Personally I only like burying copper with soldered end feed fittings, BUT.... Hep2o pipe and pushfit fittings don't corrode as they are plastic, and can withstand greater pressures than copper, BUT... it needs to be installed correctly, inserts, full socket, fittings very very tight etc...

Is sludge worse in colder weather?

Flush it out yourself, cold flush, hot flush, chemical flush. Doing them yourself can all be found on google. At least you can then rule sludge out of the problem.

    weeping rad tail

Get yourself a pair of grips and an adjustable. Every single nut you see around that area of the radiator... tighten it, whilst holding the rest of the valve with the grips to make sure the valve doesn't spin or anything. I don't see why you are having trouble if you follow this. Never had...

    Condensate pump questions

If it ran with a fall but was level in one small section this may be ok, but it should never run up in any circumstance. Bear in mind if you just run hose into condensate pipe you may get smells emitting from the soil pipe through the gap between hose and condensate. A strap on boss is...

Is my boiler / tank working properly?

I think the 603 has a filling loop but already built in. If you can get your head under the boiler there will be a pipe connecting from the cold into the flow/return, and you use the quarter turn isolation valves on the boiler jig itself to fill the heating.

Explanation Please, boiler losing pressure (maybe fixed)

0.7 bar on the expansion vessel? Does it say that in the MI or on the expansion vessel itself? Just seems a bit low.

Spilt White Spirit On Carpet - Please Help!!

I was painting and left a white spirit inside a plastic tub, the tub was sat in a wooden box. Came to it today and the white sirit has eaten right through the plastic tub and seeped right through the wooden box and into the carpet. I don't just have the problem of the smell, but it has...

    Sealing a Grave Fence

Not sure wether this belongs in Joinery section or Painting section, but here goes... I have built a fence to go around a grave. I plan to paint it bright orange, cuprinol paint or something. I have used the fence panels themselves as stakes to be hammered into the ground, but am worried...

    Plumbers Tools

A decent set of grips, with the little grooves that fit snuggly round ballofix valves! I don't agree with the cheap adjustables, Bahco £18(ish) ones from Screwfix are the best I've got, work with people who use them cheap adjustables that just slip off the nut everytime!! Push comes to...

Balancing a CH system containing a bypass rad?

I would just close the lockshields and then open say 1 and a half rotations. That way they won't hog all the hot water but is definately anough for the water to flow around to cool a bit. Then just balance all the other radiators as normal, on the 3rd rad starting with 1 3/4 turns open then the...
