Thanks - all sorted now. In case anyone stumbles across this thread in the future here are the steps I took... - I pulled the fuse in the mains feed to the panel. - The alarm went off and needed the Master Code to stop. - The "Batt LED" symbol was flashing as the mains wasn't on. - I...

Resetting codes on Ademco Accord XPC

Hi, I have an alarm in our new (to us) house. In time I will have it replaced with a better system but for now it'll do. I have the master code but no engineer code. I need to move one of the PIRs so need the engineer code. Thanks to this site, I have determined that the alarm is an...

Engineered wooden floor over insulation on concrete floor.

I am going to do this with my living room. We don't have any insulation in the slab at all (1908's house) so I plan to lay 12mm Celotex with thick engineered oak floor on top. So long as the floor is perfectly flat I can't see any problems with it and hopefully it'll take the edge off the...

    Internal insulation

Do you have enough space above to fit plasterboard between two beams and then reach over the top from the side and fill in the gaps with expanding foam? Obvisouly you'd need to use something else for the last row....

Could be a blinding course like you say... or a well...! Here are some better pics - we'll see what BC say tomorrow.

    Strange footings

At the edge closest to the camera it's not very thick at all - a couple of inches or so. As you say, it needs digging out a bit more to find out the true depth.

    Strange footings

Anyone seen this type of footing before? A small extension is going in and the hole dug out today to reveal this... It looks like a slab has been poured before shuttered footings put on top. Got Building Control coming out tomorrow to tell us what they think is an acceptable way to...
