Yes you are. You can confirm this by feeling the heat going to the rads when you are running hot water by holding the 22mm pipes under the boiler. Dunno which one is the flow on that particular box though.

Well white should be connected to the call for heat terminal of the room thermostat and as the only colour you had left over was brown I would say that you were right. It sounds like you have a duff head / motor / something on the new valve.

On the Salus receiver, remove the link between live and common, if fitted. Remove the bridge from the PCB terminal strip (figure 15) and connect to common and NO on the Salus. It doesn't matter which wire goes to which terminal. Power the receiver from the same supply as the boiler. Job...

The action of manually opening the valve and securing it in position should also operate the microswitch which in turn should power the pump / boiler / whatever.
