    Water Stained Flooring

Thank you very much for the advice :-) I presume 'proper maintenance' is applying wax care and using the cleaning product? (just double checking as this flooring was really expensive!!!)

Wall Plugs & Heavy Mirrors - Newbie confusion(?)

Wow! Fantastic replies, thank you very much. Some of your questions: > How much does the mirror weigh > Are you using mirror plates It's very heavy, I can't really hold it up for more than a few seconds. Solid oak frame. Mirror plates? No. The mirror comes with 2 hooks...

Wall Plugs & Heavy Mirrors - Newbie confusion(?)

Hello, Thank you very much for reading my post. This will seem basic to you experts, but I'm not fully comprehending it. I have a large heavy mirror to hang above a fireplace (plaster then brick in the wall). Most of the posts on this forum recommend brown wall plugs, although some...

    Water Stained Flooring

Cheers :-) What type of maintenance product do you recommend? The advice from my retailer is sand and re-oil every 2 years or as required. They didn't mention maintenance products..? Thank you very much, Matt

    Water Stained Flooring

Thanks - I think you're right. It has dried fairly naturally over the day - the final damage will be thankfully minimal :-) What I find interesting is that the damage is where the pieces meet, but the supplier says I shouldn't apply oil unless it's re sanded first. To me, the gaps between...

    Water Stained Flooring

Hello, Thank you in advance for your help. I've just woken up and found someone has hung up dripping towels above the hardwood flooring in the dining room. The damage is visible. In the two attached pictures you can see the normal and damaged side by side. How do I repair this...

Any idea what to do about the posts? Thanks :D

New Decking, New Fencing - Dirt & Treatment Question

Interesting - so it sounds like the oil is good for the wood and that will prolonge it's life, or it will weather and turn gray no matter what? Your response suggested there wasn't much in it either way... If I am going to do the oil, is it critical that I capture the new-ness now or is it...

New Decking, New Fencing - Dirt & Treatment Question

Hello! Thanks in advance for your help with this :D I've had a new deck and trellising put in. I'm quite nervous, knowing little and having spent a lot of cash. The trellising is dense and gorgeous but expensive (£25 a panel). My carpenter is really friendly and knowledgable, but he...

Bathroom Electrics - Fan hum - white box(?)

Just an update - I've had a great electrician in who has replaced them with no transformers. He used vent axia fans with a draft excluder that closes mechanically. They don't provide a perfect seal preventing air coming back in, but they are loads better.

Bathroom Electrics - Fan hum - white box(?)

 The builder's Electrician (not our own) says the ceilings are too narrow and too low to support normal 230v fans. This is because they are in the extension part of the house and the ceilings are fairly low there. Is this true or are there special 'narrow' fans you can get? Thanks...

Bathroom Electrics - Fan hum - white box(?)

Sounds like a plan - that is what I'd like to do. Both of the fans are in extensions, so maybe a full sized fan wasn't possible at installation time. I'll ask the electrician. Cheers :D

Bathroom Electrics - Fan hum - white box(?)

Is there a really high quality brand or shop I should be looking at? An internet search turned up too many options and none specified that the transformer is particularly quiet... Thanks :D

Bathroom Electrics - Fan hum - white box(?)

Thanks again John - that is quite good news :D That just leaves the question about the hum - is it just a matter of buying a better transformer or is it just something I have to get used to? I ask because one of them is in the bedroom (en-suite) and it hums all night...
