    Balancing UFH

Flow and return ball valves fully open Flow and returns on the manifold not fully open - would you open them fully and let the acutuators control the rest? Pump on max speed Boiler flow set to 65 Blending temp set to 40 Return coming back at 30 Sometimes the flow/return differential narrows to...

    Balancing UFH

Yes, I guess it’s about re educating yourself on heating as it’s s very different system to radiators. What do you guys think to the advice in here... https://www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk/threads/ufh-engineered-oak-flooring.95737/ It’s kind of suggesting that 27c floor probe cut off is that...

    Balancing UFH

Yeah my logic was the same. The system is a wundafloor eps 400 system fitted in the way that they specified and designed. I’d love to turn the water temperature up slightly and adjust the probe to allow a few degrees higher but obviously I don’t want to damage the wood. The room is well...

    Balancing UFH

Yes, 4 wall mounted neostat thermostats each with a floor probe. Two for the engineered wood floor and two for rooms where LVT is being fitted but not fitted yet. The probes are 1m away from the wall, half way between two heating loops and in direct contact with the back surface of the wood.

    Balancing UFH

That all makes sense and yes, like you guys I’m getting the hang of it now it’s been in for a few days. I’m getting pretty good flows now there’s just something I need to clarify. I can’t mix my temperature any higher than 40c as my wood flooring floor probe kicks in and stops calling for heat...

    Balancing UFH

Thanks guys, yes I agree the PTFE take shouldn’t be there but it’s on because I couldn’t make it seal back can get fibre washers (30mm with 20mm centres) in order to redo it. It’s also very cold so don’t want to drain everything down no that it’s finally up and running. On that note... I’m...

    Balancing UFH

I’m familiar with the concept and ways to balance a radiator system so I’m trying to apply the same logic to my UFH system. One quick questions... should I balance the return 22mm valve that is attached to the bottom of the manifold? Leaving it wide open seems silly as the pressure is just...

    1” Connectors Leaking

Is it possible to get fibre washers in this size... 30mm outside diameter with a 20mm inside diameter? Thanks.

    Doorbell Chime suggestions

I have a nest hello but I want to add a chime to it. My requirements are for a powered chime and the ability to add a couple of wireless extensions to it that I can out in places where it’s hard to hear the main chime. Anyone know of something that’ll do all of that? Thanks.

    1” Connectors Leaking

Thanks guys. They are white washers ad that’s the bit that concerned me as they are not the fibre washers. Also, once they are tight they are SO easy to loosen. Just the slightest knock elsewhere loosens the fitting. I’m so disappointed with these fittings.

    1” Connectors Leaking

How do I apply the loctite 55? How much do I use? All the other joints have plastic ridgid washers. Can I be 100% confident that they will seal without using loctite 55 on them too? Thanks

    1” Connectors Leaking

I’ve got some of this stuff now as there’s still a drip on the manifold so I’m going to redo it all. How many turns should I be using? Would you be tempted to use it on all of them fittings where there aren’t rubber rings on the fitting? Thanks

    1” Connectors Leaking

Blimey what a nightmare all those joints are on the manifold. I get one to stop weeping and then another one starts. Surely they are badly designed?! Any suggestions for the best way to do it if I strip it all down and start again? I really don’t want it leaking everywhere.

So PTFE tape will do it? Just need LOTS?

    1” Connectors Leaking

I’ve got 1” straight connectors to connect my 22mm flow and return from the boiler to my UFH. I’ve tried several times fitting them to the manifold inlet but they keep dripping. I’ve used PFE tape... am I doing something wrong? Photos attached. Any help and advice would be great please. Thanks.

    Mains water connection

I couldn’t get the pipe insert to go into the allathene so I’m guessing it only goes on with a brass fitting and you leave it off when using the plasson fitting?

    Mains water connection

How does this look? All prepped up and ready to go? There was a pipe insert in the alkathene which I’m guessing I should stranger over to the plasson fitting? Any tips with fitting it? Also the photo shows it’s about 3-4mm thick alkathene.

    Mains water connection

Cool, that makes sense, thanks. So, in that area the white panels on the floor are where there is no UFH and the white panels are polystyrene so won’t conduct heat and therefore no movement. There is no UFH fitted under my units or kitchen island etc. I’ve also left a gap around the join from...

    Mains water connection

Oh no. I was in fear you might say something like that. I’m not really too sure what I can do now as the screed has been put down. So.... the alkathene has been in the sand and cement screed of the house for 50 years and 4 months ago a 5mm Level It 2 renovation screed was out down to level my...
