    Odd blistering plaster

The paper may have come away from the plaster board before it was put up and when it was skimmed it may have caused the "bubbles". It's just a thought!! But you can get a sharp blade and gently cut around the bubbled areas and maybe skim it with a bit of easi-fill and when it has gone off sand...

    Help needed.....External rendering

How long ago was it done? The revels are rough and need doing again, as for the rendering it should all be a uniform colour especially when it drys. You should't see any blemishes on finished render..Get a painter around and ask if him any of the background will show thru when he paints it...

thicky question...how do I use this?

That thing will hold your screw bit, but it wont stop the screw going in too far. This has to be done by the torque on your drill. You can set your torque to just bury the head in the board but you will find it will be inconsistant and may have to tweek it a bit. As long as you don't go thru...

Best render for concrete block garage.

If you have a good scratch coat on it and a good float coat, Then paint it with a good masonry paint and you shouldn't have any problems. Just look around at a few garages and the paint on them. Pebble dash will disperse the water/rain that hits it, and done properly you wont need any paint on...

Reskim over emulsioned walls and ceilings

He may have meant remove any "flakey" emulsion paint!! If it looks alright and it will take paint, then it should be ok. It seems you did the "prep" for him and if it's sound now you did a good job...;) Can you imagine if painters had to remove emulsion paint on every inside job they did!!!! I...

    Internal render not set

I think I have explained myself so other people can understand what I said, so as for your quotes in your opening sentence I never get confused and paranoid. I grew out of all that years ago and say it as it is. And don't bother trying to bait me as I don't really worry about my grammer now as...

    Internal render not set

The scratch coat is usually the first coat on the wall then the float coat then skim, but some times you have to "Dub" it out first to get an even scratch coat so you can float it. Well that's the way I have always done it !! But I am willing to learn "new" methods or am I missing something?

    Internal render not set

If you start off with a 4-1mix then you should make sure the next coat is weaker than your first coat (5-1) as opposed to a 5-1 coat then a 4-1 coat as you are putting a stronger mix on top of a weaker mix.. What are you using to gauge your mixes ...

Insulated plasterboard over existing dot and dab?

We scratched the brick work with a water proofer in the mix, if it wasn't a cavity wall it just gives a little more damp protection from just a brick wall' . And also I did scratch my stonewalls (with a few coats) to bring it out a bit straighter before I dot and dabbed them.. And if we were...

Insulated plasterboard over existing dot and dab?

How thick was the p/board that you dabbed to the wall? You might have got away with dot and dabbing Insulated plaster board ( poly-backed)on that area. I had damp walls in my old house and I put a scratch coat over the stone work and dot and dabbed poly backed plaster board on and it has been ok...
