    Toilet outlet lower than soil

It looks to me that the black bit (what is this made of?) goes into a clay bend, but i cant be sure, i'll try to get a closer pic. Would prefer to replace the black bit, rather than cut it, access is pretty limited there. How would i get it off? I could always cut it shorter after its off...

    Toilet outlet lower than soil

I had hoped that a 2cm bit wouldnt be too bad, since its got to go round the bend anyway. I suppose the option is to build a plinth out of ply? Would MDF be ok if its siliconed in? Soil1 by EdTurtle posted 17 Oct 2020 at 9:23 PMSoil2 by EdTurtle posted 17 Oct 2020 at 9:23 PM

    Toilet outlet lower than soil

Currently doing a new downstairs toilet, but moving the toilet to a new location. The old toilet outlet is about 180mm from the floor, which goes pretty much horizontally into the soil pipe, which is roughly 30cm from the toilet. The new toilet will be around 2-3m away from this location...

    Fence ideas

slatted fencing, run some 4x2 between the posts horizontally, then nail 4x1 to them vertically. Same height as you have now, but lets light though, and more importantly wind too. Or, some 4x1, 2x1, 3x1 etc, to make it look different. Or, run the slats horizontally instead, then at the...

    Extending concrete slab

Thats what i was thinking, which i was wondering why i couldn't just extend my slab, in the same way? Thanks

    Extending concrete slab

Thanks for the reply, i'll look into slabs instead, probably easier too. Could you explain how a 'day joint' works, isnt this the same principle? Could i lay slabs over the old concrete base, to give a more uniform appearance inside?

    Extending concrete slab

Hi, i have a concrete shed base slab that is 6x4, but i want a 6x6 shed. The slab is ok except for one edge where it is only two inches thick, so dont want to remove it, as its only for a shed. Whats the best way to extend the slab, ie cast a 6x2 slab next to it? Can i sbr bond the edge of the...

Ridge tile on fibre cement slates

Thanks, thats not a bad video. I dont have the holes though to screw through, or even a ridge batten, does that matter? Is the silicon essential, or would mortar be ok in the gap under the caps?

Ridge tile on fibre cement slates

Hi, just after a bit of advice regarding fitting concrete ridge tiles to fibre cement slates on a small shed. Tiles are like this with the (I think its called) capping: https://www.ashbrookroofing.co.uk/ashbrook-roofing-angle-capped-concrete-ridge-tile-110-degree-shallow-pitch.html My roof is...

    Wooden shelter on bricks

Hi, I have just laid two courses of bricks ready to build a summerhouse/garden shelter on. Its only three sided, with the front open for access. I have the frogs up, so before i put the shed on i'm going to lay a mortar course, so the timber can sit level. Going to do about 10mm course in sharp...

    Ventilating Gable Walls

The condensation is occurring nowhere near the bathroom, and we have a vapour barrier across the whole loft. The trouble is where the roofer has installed new insulation in the dormer (i think) there is now no airflow through the loft except either side of the dormer, which is presumably not...

    Ventilating Gable Walls

Why? I had considered this, but i'm a little bit apprehensive going up on the ladder and whacking the wall with a chisel. Also, worried about not making a 'clean' hole, thermalite tends to split easily and come off in chunks i find. What about if i were to use a 40mm core drill instead, i...

    Ventilating Gable Walls

I had considered a core drill to hire, but it would only be about twenty holes to do, even at a minute per hole its only going to be an hour total time including getting the ladder up. Probably should mention the blocks are thermalite, so easy to drill. I have cavity insulation, so that would...

    Ventilating Gable Walls

Hi, I have some condensation in the loft which has started dripping onto the ceiling below. I have had a recent new dormer roof, and i think the increase in insulation has reduced the ventilation in the rest of the loft. Having said that, I think the previous owners have had problems as they...

    Decommission rainwater downpipe

We only have one surface water gully, which is what i'll be discharging the rainwater into. This also has a pipe discharging into it - coming from the kitchen. Still not sure what this means/what i should do about it. Thanks
