Baxi Bermuda back boiler - kettling - worth flushing?

I have a baxi back boiler with gas front (front is a few years old and the back we think is 1974). I have a hot water tank with f&e in the loft. The heating is a C-plan setup. Basically, the boiler kettles a fair bit, despite me having turned it down under the fire (doesnt make any difference...

    Squaring off an arch

Would it be worth me taking a little bit more of the plaster off either side? Would the odd hole be ok in the lintel, in the front - for attaching the new architrave? I assume a restraint strap is L shaped, full of holes? If so, yes, that makes sense, and is very helpful - I wouldnt have thought...

Skim over artex - or not?

Just another quick one.... i have some Mapei primer g that i used before tiling over a skim coat. Is this suitable for priming the ceiling before skimming/bonding, or even using instead of PVA to control the suction? I appreciate it doesnt have the grit in it, so no mechanical key. Thanks

Skim over artex - or not?

Ok thanks for the info... When you say you use a bonding agent - is this PVA, or is the PVA only used to control suction? Also, i didnt think you could skim over wet bonding, or is it just because i'm not good enough!? Thanks again

Skim over artex - or not?

Ok, thanks. Two q's if i can? 1) what do you mean blister? 2) You say bond then skim, i assume you mean bonding - let it dry fully (say overnight) then two coats of multi as normal? Thanks

Skim over artex - or not?

I have some stippled/swirly artex downstairs that we want to get sorted. I have had it tested and it does not contain asbestos, but the test man said often the asbestos content is so low it wont show up anyway, and to treat it with caution anyway. Basically, which of the following would best...

    Removing paint from plaster

I stripped the paint back to the plaster in a number of rooms (yes you are right - v time consuming). I found the best way was to wet the wall slightly with a little soapy water, and then scrape. Holding the scraper at the correct angle helps immensely - i use two hands, one to hold the handle...
