if temperature is a problem then you should be able to use any heat resistant cable, but i've never had any problems with standard cable!

1st things first, how old was the wiring estimated to be this is often a wild guess but wiring has changed a few times over the years as has the consumer unit requirements. so looking at the consumer unit is it fitted with MCB's or just rewirable / cartridge fuses? is there any RCD fitted as...

so long as the F&E are before the pump and close to each other then it should not be a problem. so i'd go with a F&E at the cylinder on the return and the pump somewhere on the low section in the kitchen again on the return

have you changed the time settings? one thing these timers hate is out of sequence times. try resetting the times in numerical order there are 8 ons and 8 offs if 1 of these is out of sync they don't like it. if you are sure they are ok then its new clock time i would suspect have you tried it...
