    Trade Windows supplier

What are the technical questions you need answering? Where are you based? You'll find many supply only branches only have office staff capable of processing a window/door order as they don't have the knowledge (Eurocell for example) Try asking a small local company

    Help after UPVC installation!

Many ways to finish off, depends on what look you want. PVC window board with all PVC trims Timber window board with timber surrounds Stud out, plasterboarded and skimmed Before you start make sure any gaps around the window are foamed, use rock wool for the large gaps. If you haven't...

    Which UPVC Profile?

All the profiles mentioned have come on over the years, there's not much between them. Your main aim is to have the right company/team installing the windows, installed correctly, long guarantees, good after sales etc We've use Rehau for 10 years, both the 3 and 5 chambered profiles can achieve...

Composite door side light/panel fit question

Is the frame against the wall plumb? If there is a slight bow on the wall side, that will cause the composite side screen slab to bow out the frame on the door side. As long as you've got all the frame uprights plumb the side panels should clip in.

Can't get the beads to click in

Cut some slots into the back of the bead, be careful not to nick the front of the bead which can be seen. Hopefully the unit is toughened

    Bi-Fold Doors

Sounds like they only supply or possibly manufacture UPVC and buy in the bifolds. Are the bifolds UPVC or aluminium?

    Adjusting UPVC door

Has it always been like that? If so the frame has a slight twist and hasn't been installed plumb. One of the hinge adjustments may enable you to move the door closer or further away from the frame. Trial and error

What is "normal repairs and maintenance" of a conservatory??

I'd say anywhere between 3-5k, depending on what frames and roof you choose If you opted for any of the self cleaning roofs, the parapet walls may have to be taken up as the pitch would have to be increased for the glass to function correctly 5k tops including the parapet walls work

Damp patch in bottom corners of windows!

Damp patches in the corners are caused by lazy fitters who don't run a bead of silicone along the sill. Here's one we had to sort a few weeks back. A builder friend who claimed he knew what he was doing, installed the returns of the bay on the wrong side as well As Gaz said you need to get...

    Sourcing a UPVC window - tips/tricks/guide - pics included?

Fensa have so say upped their game in freezing the accounts of companies who don't have a MTC fitter on each job. (We'll see) The fact that companies have no MTC card holders yet are still able to certify installations online just proves how poor the overall Fensa online system is. MTC is...

    Building control sign off

Thanks all, she's holding the 4K to ransom on the presumption that if any further work is required to get the build the approval, this money will be used!! Funny thing is there's more knock throughs and building work required on the other side of the house that she wants us to do at a later date

    Building control sign off

    Building control sign off

The quick version We've installed a lean to along the back of a house with a dividing partition glazed wall. One side is the existing lounge which has patio doors now leading out into the lean to, these remain in place. The problem lies in the other side of the lean to, this was to be knocked...

    Building control sign off

Just a quick couple of queries, is it the responsibility of the builder or the homeowner to ensure building control is signed off at each stage of a build (especially the final cert) Cheers all

    MTC Card

So, it seems all companies are still allowed to certify without having done the MTC. It's only when a fensa inspector goes out to a job and the installer doesn't have the MTC or NVQ then that company will get a further 8 WEEKS to pass MTC. Some companies won't get inspected for months, Fensa...
