Is it ever acceptable to exceed voltage drop limits if Zs is still within limits of OCPD?

I'd just use the value given in the OSG, it errs on the side of caution even with a conductor temperature of 20°C.

So the CNE is reliant on the not so healthy looking clamp on the service cable?

    Suitable fuse box

You can ask for a fully loaded RCBO type consumer unit (an RCBO combines an RCD and MCB). This will be expensive but an issue on a socket circuit circuit (i.e. dodgy kettle etc) won't trip anything else i.e. your lights. You can ask for a "17th edition" consumer unit which usually has two RCDs...

    Something's a bit amiss here

The neutral has a grey sheath, it goes to the centre left terminal of the meter. The red looks to be the earth for some daft reason.

Is it ever acceptable to exceed voltage drop limits if Zs is still within limits of OCPD?

    On site guide and GN3 are at 10°C iirc. For example a B32 MCB requires (5x32A) 160A to trip within 0.4s. (230V/160A)= 1.4375Ω 1.4375Ω/1.24 (factor from above post)= 1.1593Ω 1.1593 x 0.95 (volt drop) = 1.1Ω which is the figure for a B32 in the OSG.

Is it ever acceptable to exceed voltage drop limits if Zs is still within limits of OCPD?

I thought it was 1.24? From a design temp of 70°C down to measured at 10°C is a difference of 60°C. This multiplied by 0.004Ω/°C gives a result of 0.24. Add 1 (so we take into account it's own starting figure) and we end up with a dividing factor of 1.24. The reciprocal of this equates to...

I don't think DEC exist anymore, I believe they were bought out by Hewlett Packard who later merged with Compaq.

    Circuit Help

You are correct in PDP stands for programmed data processor, not personal data processor. As the article I linked above says: In those days the word "computer" referred to a big, power-demanding electrical thing which was way too expensive (more than a million dollars), so DEC decided to name...

http://www.hampage.hu/pdp-11/main.html Maybe the word frightened was a bit ott but they wanted to get away from idea of a big computer costing $1m+, so they called it pdp instead.

Probably for the same reason we have PDPs (personal data processors), people back then were frightened to call them computers.

Until we know what he has it isn't possible to say how it will connect, some trip amps have DPCO relays so you can run two independent circuits. Otherwise you can do it with a few diodes. What is the official definition of a computer? I always thought it is something that takes an input...

Doesn't an arduino need programming? You can probably buy off the shelf things that will do the temperature monitoring for not a lot of money.

    Circuit Help

It isn't difficult, a bit more info on what you have got will help. What are the outputs of the temperature controller? Make and model? A simple float switch will do for the level. What sort of supply is it? What markings are on it?

Pull cord fused spur - Does such a thing exist?

It does seem daft to have a fan running 24/7 in a domestic premises which is unoccupied for weeks at a time, however isn't there something in the council tenancy agreement about leaving them unoccupied for so long?
