    Refilling System.

Actually, even thought the system was pretty clean when I drained it, I have done a lot of soldering, so there will prolly be a lot of flux residue in them there pipes so I might just leave a cleaner in there for a couple of weeks or so to be safe. Thats the type I have already, I forgot...

    Refilling System.

I was wondering if the cleaner was necessary, that's why I asked here, to get the experts opinion. I'm not worried about spending a few quid on a bottle of cleaner if it's going to help in the future. I did fit a magnaclean as part of the work I did to revamp the system. I did mention it in my...

    Refilling System.

Good idea, I'll do that. I presume these would be wired in parallel with the existing stat ? I don't have a seperate timer on my system, I use one of those "all in one" room stats.

    Refilling System.

Lol, OK I won't try that then. That's almost as bad as getting the little " see me after school" in red ink at the bottom of an essay. So run for a month with fernox f3, drain and refill with fernox inhibitor. Which is the best to go for, MB1 or F1 ? *EDIT* The system was pretty clean...

    Refilling System.

Hi guys, I would appreciate a little help to make sure I do this the best way. The system is presently completely empty and I'm going to be refilling it this weekend. Thing is, is it better to bleed the radiators starting at the furthest away downstairs and then working back towards the boiler...

Replacing external BT/openreach cable to NTE5

The cable that tends to get used now is called cable downlead. It's similar to dropwire without the suspension strands but also has a coloured outer sheath as well as the tough internal sheath. However, in the past ALL sorts of cable has been used incuding internal cabling. If you can get hold...

:D :D :D That is excellent news. I thought both happened at the same time. Thanks a lot guys.

    Ferrules

It's the old pre-harmonised colours & I want to be able to do some wiring changes for my parents without having to go through all the rigmarole I had to re: labc etc etc. I basically want a set of cables that match the new style split-load cables in cu's but in the old colours. A bit naughty...

    Ferrules

Excellent find :D they look like they are the ones that I was after. Nice One. I would probably only need it for maybe about a dozen terminals. I basically need two of the same cable kit that you get inside the MK Split-Load CU's ( i.e. one brown and two blue ) but one Red and two Black...

    Ferrules

I guess that will be true. It's just that I can see the crimping tool being a specific type affair & that will be the item in the chain that will be unavailable :( Thanks for the replies anyway lads, I was just hoping that maybe some of you guys on the more "custom building" side of things...

    Ferrules

They're the boys BAS. After looking at the ends, my next question was going to be "does the crimping tool cut the ends and crimp them over like the MK ones" but seeing as they don't appear to be the ones I thought they were, that isn't likely then :? Does anyone know whether these...

    Ferrules

Hi everybody. sorry so long since I posted but I've been busy trying to secure employment  The house wiring has had to go on the back-burner until I can get some more pennies saved. Anyway, my question. The flexible split-load cables inside the MK CU I bought have a ferrule...

    22mm tap connector

Well, believe it or not, I went to my local Plumb Center to buy one of the 15x½ couplers and the lad at the checkout pointed me to THIS on the net. I know it ain't cheap but I don't have to prat around changing the pipe size now to accomodate the smaller fittings. Just thought I'd post it...

    22mm tap connector

Thanks seco, I guess that is what I will have to do then, unless someone knows of anywhere that actually sells that size ?

    22mm tap connector

Hi guys. Could anyone tell me if there is available a 22mm x ½" bsp straight connector ? Be it compression or soldered ( but not pushfit ). I've been looking all over for one but even though I've found 15mm x ¾" and 15mm x ½", there dont seem to be any readily available for the size I...

    Ye Gods!

Before the Humber Bridge, we used to get regular attacks on the BT Submarine cables across the Humber. Apparently, local pykies used to spike the cables, thinking they were leccy, then when the contactors cut out, they used to saw the cable and a nick a section for the lead/copper !!!! Needless...

Hall / Landing light switches - wiring confusion!

Please ignore, just noticed the date

    Landing Light wiring

Thanks Spark, I just want to be in the position to show the inspector that I'm aware of and on top of any problems that he spots when he comes to do the initial test and inspection. 8) As long as the parallel lamp arrangement is OK, the intermediate switch will be easy to figure out as it...

    Landing Light wiring

Hi guys, just need a quick check off you if possible please. :) Doing the final checking of the existing wiring before the LABC come round and I discovered that the landing light set-up in my house doesn't seem to conform to any of the diagrams I can find. The upstairs and downstairs...

LABC reply at last !!! Also a question about wall lights.

Yeah I know Gary, I'm going to have to use one in the intermediate switch for the hallway lights, it's just that I don't like the look of it inside the backbox if I can help it. I know, I know I'm a weirdo :)
