Universal Beams Vs Parallel Flange Channel

No in parallel, each under one cavity leaf. As you say the calcs have been done and im sure it will be ok, and if there are any issues the BCO will pick it up, but I was just looking for information as I like to fully understand everything I do, and am just interested in the strength...

Universal Beams Vs Parallel Flange Channel

Thanks Deluks, The other UB specs were for 2 UB's to be bolted together. It would seem to me that the UB's would be much stronger than the PFC's, But I havent seen a PFC in the flesh as it were. For reference we are talking about UB's 305x127x37 Vs PFC @200x90x30 either way bolted...

Universal Beams Vs Parallel Flange Channel

Hi, I've had pans drawn up for an extension and it specifies PFC's bolted back to back. Just out of general interest, can some one point me in the direction of comparative span tables, or give me a rough run down on the strength differences? I am just curious as some time ago I had calcs...

no problem, it just happens im going through my email at the moment, so i got the notification as the message came in. If you let me know exactly what you want to do I may be able to help you out with some circuit diagrams. One of the problems with relays is that you are going to need 240V coils...

Hi, In the end I swapped the position of the switches and used grid intermediates, on the landing, as you cant see any other switch from that location it doesn't matter so much that it is not !00% the same as the others. Relays would work though, but is a lot more hassle.

    Inline fuse.

Hi, I want to run a single 1W 240v GU10 LED fitting off of a spur on the ring final. I have limited room, is there any reg that would stop me using an appropriately rated inline fuse holder, connected to a DPST toggle switch? Cheers.

Fire protection for RSJ / UB - Quick Question.

Thanks for the reply, sorry should have said it's a stud wall that encompasses the rsj.

Fire protection for RSJ / UB - Quick Question.

Hi, If a RSJ is fully enclosed in a wall, does it need additional fire protection, or is 12.5mm Plasterboard + skim sufficient, as when a beam is enclosed within a ceiling? cheers!

How to make a hidden door in Chimney breast?

awbcm, did you get my last email, i got a few email failure reports from your address? A bit more of an update for anyone that is interested, the TV bracket, and small actuators for pushing the TV & assembly out of the wall have arrived. the TV bracket is very well made but weighs a ton, well...

How to make a hidden door in Chimney breast?

A bit of an update on this. I have been reviewing some plans (cheers awbcm) and have decided to go with a method that uses Linear actuators, as this removes the need for counterweights, and more importantly from my point of view the space that a counterweight would take up, as well as the...

How to make a hidden door in Chimney breast?

Ok, I have come to the conclusion that sliding the TV vertically will be the best solution. awbcm, can i ask what sort of mechanism you use in your cabinets to raise the TV? I don't want to see a track that extends above the TV on the wall. I was thinking along the lines of draw sliders...

How to make a hidden door in Chimney breast?

Its a 32" Toshiba TV, I was going from the PDF I had saved for it before, but the following site says its 17.9 KG without stand and 20.2 with. http://www.home-entertainment.toshiba.co.uk/consumer/products.nsf/pages/lcdplasma-regza-32WLT68?opendocument#specification If i get a chance...

How to make a hidden door in Chimney breast?

I have thought about that, it might be the simpler option. but i dont think it would be as cool. awbcm, the TV is 20KG [not sure yet if that includes the stand], the cupboard is not something I would want to do more than once, so I would like to allow for a future upgrade to a larger TV...

How to make a hidden door in Chimney breast?

Sorry awbcm, I see what you mean now, I was busy at work earlier, and was obviously having a blonde moment! Regarding hinges for this sort of thing, and assuming a weight of 50KG to allow for the TV, door, bracket, and possible future TV upgrade. What sort of thing would be suitable...

How to make a hidden door in Chimney breast?

Ill have a look at some safes, that sounds like the sort of thing i may be after. Alternatively I have thought of fixing a metal frame around the opening, fixed to the studwork, with a metal frame fixed to the back of the door, connected together with short arms that pivot at both ends. This...

How to make a hidden door in Chimney breast?

It would if you mounted the panel on the other side of the door... In my case you have a door that closes flush with the wall of the chimney breast and opens out in to the room, on that is mounted the TV bracket, and on that is mounted the TV. The TV does not need to pass through the opening...

How to make a hidden door in Chimney breast?

Hi, Im going to be battening the front of the chimney breast out by a few inches to give me a greater cupboard depth for the AV kit. It's currently about 300mm deep, and im thinking 400mm would be about right. Thsi would leave me with a stud framework to build the door into.
