ufh is all about personal preference and about your budget. definatly tank the walls also you can buy a tray or form the run out of the floor that you will be making. only do anything you feel comfortable with as BS says its a big job for a diyer

i just hate mosaics on floors, thats not saying i wouldnt do it. if you dont get it perfect it shows, small tiles on floors dont work in my opinion, but im sure around are a few that say opposite to me, usually are.

makes me shudder, a horrible job! how big is it? and rather than half a tile gap why not measure it so you get it even either side? as for the adh seeping through make sure you use a small trowell and make sure its a perfect floor, if the floor isnt perfect you fighting a losing battle...

when i say high water area i mean like is it a water trap there, maybe get a lot of puddles? not sea level. i have no idea about the brick morter mix as i would still use adhesive in "normal" outside conditions. if customer asks me to use concrete / cement i just pick up bag of powder...
