Well the Manager of the tile shop will obviously work on his margins and make his profit where he can but to say someone is getting ripped off by paying £40 a roll for matting whereby to get it cheaper the installer has to instigate the contract for a large order of tiles is simply misinformation.

Well obviously if they are making money somewhere else they can provide free products, which in fact aren't free at all, you are still paying for them by getting less of a discount somewhere else, it's all part of the rediculous RRP scam that most manufacturers are tied up with. I'm talking...

So it's £20 for a 5 metre roll of homelux tanking membrane at CTD? Do they pay you to take the WP1 away? ;) I'm finding that price hard to believe, I imagine the suppliers pay more than that.

Post a price then, I have asked for prices a few times, fallen on deaf ears though, strange, I need to see things to believe it, anything.

how to tile a kitchen worktop

.......I'm just thinking about the front edge of the worktop, certainly not ideal to be fixing a tile to a bull nose top, this whole idea has DIY lash up written all over it. It's the sort of thing that will be completed and admired by the installer and noone else.

what to do on the edges of tiling a 'u'shape shower cubicle?

Yes, tanking is done just before tiling. You can buy wall trims to hide the tiles 'biscuit' although for natural stone tiles and some Porcelain the biscuit is the same colour as the tiles face so not usually a problem if it on display. I tend to find the flat wall trims much more desirable...

Brick style tiling in and around window ledge - help!

It's difficult to say whether it will make the room look bigger, tiles placed on a landscape orientation can add more width to a room, also, your grout colour matching the tile colour can make the room look larger as the walls will appear to be a single uniform colour at an initial glance. As...

    quick question

Sounds like a job for Suuuuper kerdi! As I understand it, you've plastered over the WP1? This installation sounds far from ideal, the plaster needs tanking, i'd be a little worried if I had WP1 then plaster then more WP1 on top.

    PVA vs Primers

Well, that's not the first time I have read that, I think Mudster (Alan Mudd) first posted that some 6 years ago and I have seen it copied and pasted on virtually every tiling forum ever since. Shame Mudster doesn't browse forums anymore, knowing him very well, I'm sure he would be a little...

Sorry for the double post, my phone wouldn't let me scroll down when editing my first, anyway.....2 hours before setting, just about manageable I guess, kerdi and homelux are ok to tile onto immediatly. Gaz, feel free to fart on your next post, you'll probably get thanked for passing wind by...

Rarely use Hardibacker due to health risks when cutting, the extruded foam boards tend to come in rediculous widths and are hugely expensive, only really use Knauf Aquapanel which is a product that Bal always used to recommend skimming I believe. What's this new product then? A membrane? And...

Where have I had a pop at Richard? It's called banter, RichC takes things very seriously, he is probably a good 15 yeas older than me so you'd think he should be chilled. I have often wondered why he goes all defensive over the slightest comment, although he has lightened up a lot lately it...

    Damp Forming To Shower Rooms

I wouldn't be able to start tiling a shower or bath without some sort of tanking, if the silicone joint ever goes or water gets beyond the grout on a plasterboarded wall, you are fooked. Might possibly be alright in a lot of cases but not worth the risk, belt and braces approach for me.
