    My bleeding radiator- any advice?

It's a sealed system. I don't think it's corrosion as the radiators are quite new. One is a couple of years old and the other is about 6 months.

    My bleeding radiator- any advice?

Hi there Can anyone shed some light on why I would need to bleed one radiator in particular every week. It's a towell rail style radiator and I've noticed that the top rail is rarely hot. After bleeding it's piping hot but then a couple of weeks later it's cool at the top again. Also...

    Plumbing in a washing machine

Gotcha! I'll try and go for a short flexible hose which leads to a waste pipe (at an angle) and straight out the house. Cheers

    Plumbing in a washing machine

That's a good question. Either the waste hose will need to be about 4 metres long as it has to travel behind all the units in the kitchen. It can then be plumbed into the the waste trap in the sink. Alternatively the waste hose could be 1m and plumbed into a new waste pipe that runs behind the...

    Plumbing in a washing machine

Thanks for the quick reply. I thought it sounded a bit dodgy and they want to take the easier way out. What's an AAC by the way? I've looked again and if I run the pipe around the kitchen it's going to be 4m max. Cheers.

    Plumbing in a washing machine

Hello everyone I'm changing the location of my washing machine from the kitchen (next to the sink) to under the stairs. The distance is about 3.5 metres from the sink waste and the waste pipe will have to be cut into the wall behind the kitchen units. The water supply is not a problem as...

Hi lxbn Did you ever solve your megaflo question? I had a great plumber fix mine recently after 2 years of different opinions! He installed an expansion vessel and redid the pipework at round the megaflo so the system is now balanced (upstairs at least) and I don't get a big drop in flow every...

    hot water 'clunking sounds'

For anyone interested this problem is now fixed. I had a plumber come over and he fitted a small expansion vessel on to the megaflo and adjusted the pipework so the hot and cold pipes are now balanced! The result- no clunking, water sound or hissing!

Hi Fraser I have no idea on the hourly charge but I paid £270 for 4 hours between the 2 of them. I can see my water pressure is almost 3 bar and my pipes are nice and tidy and I'm happy. Based on that I would guess that £60-£70 per hour but they can check out the problem and quote you for...

Hi Fraser The plumbers have been and gone (4 hours). Bang on time, clean & professional which makes a change from a typical tutting plumber. He installed an expansion vessel (which apparently comes supplied in newer megaflos and similar systems) and a pressure gauge. He also redid some of the...

Hi Fraser By coincidence I had a plumber come to my house yesterday to try and shed some more light on the situation. He didn't measure the flow rate or pressure but believed he could fix the problem by using an expansion vessel (as opposed to an accumulator) and tidying up the pipework. At...

    hot water 'clunking sounds'

no ball valve in the loft. I just read another post and there problem was caused by the pipes physically moving around after they replaced there old low pressure system. Mine was replaced 2 years ago and wonder if the problem could be similar. Where is FAQ 14? Cheers

    hot water 'clunking sounds'

wow- fast reply! Are you talking about the main stoptap- I think that has been turned turn a bit already but I can turn it a bit more. I seem to notice it alot more when you turn the hot water tap off.

    hot water 'clunking sounds'

This is a bit of difficult one to explain! Whenever I turn a tap on then off in the house I can hear what sounds like a 'clunking sound'. You can also hear the water moving around from the boiler/megaflo to the taps and it seems to be getting louder. When I put the washing machine on this...

Megaflo system - inadequate flow rate

Hi Chris is there any pump on the market that will work with a megaflo. I've heard they do exist but in theory should not be fitted as it's straight off the mains.

Megaflo system - inadequate flow rate

I've been toying with the same decision as you about digging up the mains and going for a 22mm pipe but no one has been that brave to give a guarantee that it will make a huge difference. The main issue for me is the flow rate which is weaker than it should be. The strange thing is that it's...

Megaflo system - inadequate flow rate

Hi there I had my loft converted a couple of years ago and was advised that a megaflo would be the best alternative for me. Mine is also in a cupboard in the second bedroom as it directly replaced the old system. As both my neighbours had loft conversions and swore by their megaflos I...

    Clicking radiator!

Aha. I've worked something out. The clicking noise and the hissing started again this morning a day after i regenerated the air gap on my megaflo. This would suggest to me that: A hissing sound is because the flow-rate is too high through the valve, caused by the pressure being too high...

    2 x 2 gang dimmer switches on 1 circuit?

Aha. That explains that. Only problem is that I'm going for Crabtree chrome dimmers and as far as I can see they only make regular dimmer switches (1 gang, 2 gand etc). Is it possible to have a double dimmer and a double switch on the same circuit? Cheers.
