Good place to buy cheap, solid, square edge floorboards.

I measure these floorboards as 142 x 21 mm. That seem right? If so, where's a good place to get some cause I'm stealing boards from one room to finish another and they need putting back at some point :)

I got the cheap ass bull-eye version. However, I have damaged sight in 1 eye that is still able to decipher all the letters on an opticians test so lets seee if the bulls-eye can so it.

    rotary laser level

These things seem cheap yet I have read it is not worth using them unless they are auto-levelling as you will not be able to be accurate enough with the bullseye. Is this true? I've only experience the the bubble levels but these laser lines constantly visible could be very handy. Does anyone...

    Newbie Question

This entire house is in need of at least re-skimming. I am not at all experienced with plastering but bought some books, tutorial CDs, watched Youtube videos and will keep replastering a small room until I am satisfied my finish is good enough to do the whole place. A question for you all...

Horizontal crack in floor joist just above middle

Not tried sticking anything in but the timber is massive to give an accurate scientific definition. Nothing bad happened before I knew it was there so decides it is as the lady says, a "shake". Yes it's on the vertical face. I'll measure it properly when it's not 3am :)

Horizontal crack in floor joist just above middle

After pulling up some boards bodge discovers there is a floor joist which has a horizontal crack beginning inside the wall running along it for at least 9 feet (could be much longer, cannot see any further). This crack is about 3mm thick. He can't see how far it goes without ripping up more...

    Scary looking binder

When it was raining it was soft and easy to push about a bit. Now it's been literally sun backed dry it's probably the hardest timber in the place, maybe getting them wet repeatedly then sun baking them dry toughens them up! There's no way that needs replacing. Cheers so much I was real scared. :D

    Scary looking binder

Stayed up last night with insomnia and when daylight broke decided to take a trip into the attic. It was raining and to my horror I found the roof is leaking around the skylight: The leaking appears to have been going on for some time an done something nasty to the binder: Does...

Shortest length of floorboard that's safe

I'm guessing that having longer floorboards increases their strength. I'm not a carpenter it's just a guess. There is a very short section of floorboard between two floor joists and I wondered if it was safe. What is the shortest length of floorboard between floor joists that's safe before it...

    I REALLY hate flex. Help.

I knew I wasn't alone. We need spring loaded flex retraction though like the henry hoover, when I can get my bits on a broken one I'll take it apart then make one for all devices :D

    I REALLY hate flex. Help.

Since it didn't work anymore smashing it up was fine entertainment. A stay at linfield would more than likely do me some good but screwdriver was not the tool for this job it didn't have any screws holding it together. The plug "acceptor" on top of the drum was clipped easily in place with...

    I REALLY hate flex. Help.

Well I had a water damaged 2 plug one so I thought I'd tear it to bits to see how they work. After trying to leverage it open with a crowbar and not getting very far, I hit it with a club hammer which just left a dent. I realised the plug in bit must be close to the other end of the flex so hack...

    I REALLY hate flex. Help.

I just went to take some photos I said I would in a post a few days ago and realised I'd need to go and get a desk lamp for the correct lighting to show it all up proper. Well. I have a 50 metre drum extension cable and I HATE it. I HATE all flex. I want it all to die. Is there anyone who sells...

    Hide the pipes

This is an old school setup, it's the work-tops with MDF cupboards underneath. They have a 10cm space to hide the pipes at the back, but the MDF cupboards are going so it doesn't matter. Gotta have those integrated things these days. And get this. This is my mothers place I'm trying to do up...
