    removing scratches from slate sign

I'm wanting to remove some graffiti which has been scratched onto a slate plaque the surface of which is pretty smooth. I was thinking of wet and dry used wet. Any other ideas? Thanks Picture to show composition of plaque (slate I presume?)

    Stain coming off picnic tables

Oops it does as well  That will teach me not to read instructions. Yes to be honest the wood's a lot worse than in the pictures in places and all the benches and picnic tables need replacing, I'm just trying to make them look half reasonable until the school budgets to buy some new...

    Stain coming off picnic tables

Should I be wiping down with white spirit even though the stain is water based? I'll stick a few coats on this time and use a brush :) And yes the wood isn't in a good state tbh

    Stain coming off picnic tables

Yeh weird effect, though it's the same stain, just that the shinier bluer looking section is a coat over the existing layers that were still on it and the greener looking area on to bare wood. The stain when painted on the areas of existing paint work came out the same colour as the...

    Stain coming off picnic tables

Nope I just scraped any loose stain off gave them a sand and then restained, using a gloss roller on the flat areas and brush on the fiddly bits. I'm not sure what wood they are, they look like they are more than a few years old though.

    Stain coming off picnic tables

I had a number of picnic tables and benches to restain 12 months ago, the original stain had come off right back to the wood in places. I used some of the original stain (see cans below) to repaint them, though I only got round to doing one coat. Not many months later it was coming off...

Painting over marker pen on walls

The Zinsser shelac based bin sounds just the job, dry within the hour, one coat, it sounds a lot less messing about than waiting for two coats of oil based undercoat to dry. I can't seem to find it though, Jewsons gave me a blank look when I mentioned the name Zinsser, they only seem to have...

Painting over marker pen on walls

I've got some more indoor murals to paint over which have outlines done with marker pen. When I've painted over other ones before I've used oil based gloss undercoat prior to emulsion otherwise the marker pen just kept bleeding through the fresh coats of emulsion. Is there something...

    Nylon Mungo Easi-Drivers any good?

I tried a small pack of them to test. They seem to work ok though can be a bit brittle. I don't know how authoritative these videos are, but this guy rates the Nylon ones at able to hold 30lb and the metal ones at 50lb. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTnvYSCjxck I think I'll maybe...

    Bubble for Spirit Level

Am I the only one who when seeing the thread title thought of apprentices being sent off to trade outlets to ask for "a long weight" "a left handed screwdriver" "a new bubble for the spirit level" "stripey paint " "sky hooks" "a glass hammer" etc.

I emailed Tesco about the SDS drill and got the following reply today. "Unfortunately, this item does not come with a safety clutch"

    which sds+

It doesn't say "rotation stop", but I presume as it comes with "2 chisel pieces" it must have? Does it have a Safety clutch? Thanks

    Nylon Mungo Easi-Drivers any good?

I've always used metal easy-drivers, but noticed how cheap the Nylon Mungo Easi-Drivers are on screwfix per 1000 http://www.screwfix.com/prods/64161/Fixings/Cavity-Fixings/Mungo-Easi-Drivers-Nylon-32mm-Pack-of-100 Are they an ok brand?, is there much difference in strength over the metal...

Difference between RYOBI CHI-1802M and Ryobi CDI-1802M

Is it practical to use the impact driver as a general screwdriver? I notice it doesn't come with torque settings.

    which sds+

I'm also looking for a sds drill (hopefully it's ok to tag on to here rather than start a new thread) but was looking for something cheaper and able to do some very occasional light chiseling. This Ryobi looks good...

Difference between RYOBI CHI-1802M and Ryobi CDI-1802M

Will there be much difference in use between the CHI-1802M and CDI-1802M. The cheapest I can find the kit with the CDI-1802M is £99.50 http://www.coopersdirect.com/pageview.php?page=show_product&ecommerce_stockcode=RYBCCK182001 The cheapest with the newer CHI-1802M £139.95...
