    Are you after a transparent finish? If not then any exterior trade quality gloss such as weathershield or stronghold will work & last a lot longer than 6 months . Wipe the glass with meths or cellulose thinners to de-grease first :wink:

    Thats not asbestos, fibres are way too large ..Just looks like a cr***y , perhaps unintentional, thick paint job with a few pubes or dog hairs :) Sandtex maybe?

    An oil/solvent-based exterior gloss or exterior water-based such as Superdec would probably be more suitable due to their flexibility,exterior masonary paint isnt designedt o beflexible as bricks or rendering dont expand & contract wirth temperature changes :wink:

    I agree, walrock is superb stuff, strong and as easy to hang as lining paper :wink:

    I dont know why people hate artex so much..I find its really useful on an uneven ceiling it hides all manner of imperfections ! If a subbtle pattern is used such a 'leather' it can look quite pleasing to the eye. Back in the 80;s and early 90's we were kept busy 7 days a week artexing ! next...

    Lining paper paste mix

    Solvites what I use everyday with all papers inc 1700 .. a bit under half a 3 gallon bucket of water should do it, whatever you do dont mix it as thinly as the instrucions/guide on the box says :wink:

    Kitchen painting

    Wipe with meths or cellulose thinners or sugarsoap followed by an oil-based undercoat before emulsion.. You may be able to simply undercaoat without degreasing :wink:

    Primer followed by two coats of oil-based eggshell but being white even this wont stay clean for long with all the 'traffic' !

    You need to cover the supermatt as it is porous ..Use vinyl matt or or for a long-life durable finish an oil/solvent-based eggshell :wink:

    Oil/solvent-based satinwood by Crown, Dulux or Leyland etc from a trade store - not DIY such as B&Q/Wickes etc ! :wink:

    White spirit is oil-based ie; refined from oil Oil-based & solvent-based are the same thing :)
