What’s going on with the standard of plumbers?

It was an existing pipe, but he failed to tighten it properly and when I ran the bath the water was just leaking out of it, and flooded the bathroom and water came through the kitchen light, luckily it didn’t cause any problems but it’s not the point and could have been much worse

    Shocking bathroom company

Yes, I have learned that the hard way. I often hear bad experiences with the likes of B&Q and thought this company would be far better, but they sold a myth I think. The standard of their fitters is shocking

Supply Issues and Shortages In The Construction Industry

Not surprising given that demand is high, but there is few products available. Hopefully it’s settled down a bit

I had one by the kitchen company then a sub contractor one, who both smoked and worked at a slow pace

I think the plumber has broke my wall...

My plumber took out some of the boards under the floor, to fit a new pipe. He said he would board over it, but surprise surprise told me to go to B&Q and do it myself and at my expense

What’s going on with tradesmen at the moment

. I am not a bothersome customer, I am not paying people to stand about for most of the day. I don’t think I am being unreasonable

    Opinions? Builders damage

I had a plumber who cracked a tile, and smashed a plant pot. He just brushed it off like it was nothing. He paid for a new plant pot, but refused to replace the tile. No wonder builders don’t have a good reputation, it’s rare to find a decent one

What’s going on with tradesmen at the moment

As a former tradesman myself, I know the importance of keeping the customer happy and keeping your reputation up. Lately I phoned up a fencer, who said he would get back to me and still waiting. Phoned up a electrician, who won’t answer his phone. The tiler was easier to contact and did turn up...

    Shocking bathroom company

At this point I will remain nameless who the company is, but it’s not a well known brand. It sells premium bathrooms and I went there in good faith. The standard of workmanship was shoddy to say the least, and the company does not communicate well, I often phone them up and keep getting fobbed...

Fed up of poor quality tradesmen

Not sure what it is, but the standard of tradesmen has really hit new lows. I had a plumber who made a right mess, same with a tiler who spent more time outside smoking than on the job. Bad off cuts, and when you question them, they give you a bad attitude. I used to work in peoples houses doing...

What’s going on with the standard of plumbers?

I recently got my bathroom refurbished, a plumber came to tighten up some pipes, I used my bath then, in the kitchen a pool of water came though the lights. Also, this plumber went into the loft and put the water pressure too low. I called him back and he denied everything and said that was not...

    Should you honour a Quote?

A quote is generally a rough estimate and not legally binding. It does seem quite a jump though. I was quoted £50K for an extension 4 years ago, which was very reasonable but the work was quite shoddy in places

    Customers wanting to pay cash.

I would have thought cash in hand suited tradesmen better, unless the taxman is on their back?

Builder asking for more, second time around.

Never pay in full, or even pay fully before any work has been done. If the builder does off, so will your money!
