    Hammerite on BBQ

Hi, I have an old Gas BBQ which needs painting. Will Hammerite (Direct to rust) be OK or will it just peel off under the heat? Thanks, Chris

    Filling stone work

Here you go. There is still a lot of tidying up and I still need to get the render out of some of the lettering. As you can see the stone work has been marked quite a lot while taking the render off. The text reads: "Erected by the loyal poor mans friend. Lodge M.U.I.O.O.F 1678...

    Filling stone work

Hi all. I live in a mid-terrace house and when we moved in there was an ugly hole in the front to the buiding which had been rendered over. We asumed it was a window but after some talking with neighbours we found out that it was an old plaque (covered in the 60s because it says 'built by...

    Type of radiators to pick?

Ahh I see. Lets hope that doesn't happen to me! When I bought it they said I could buy a 'compact radiator kit' with it which as far as I can tell adds a grill to the top part of the rad. Is this purely asthetical or does it serve some purpose?

    Type of radiators to pick?

Whats wrong with Wickes. I bought a double rad from them and its great. Nice and cheap and kicks out a lot of heat. Should I be worried?

Cold front room and new rad, plus a complicated drawing!

OK. I have now completed this job however!...... The front room is nice and warm however because it has 2 rads it gets hot so quickly that the rest of the house is always cold! Is there anything I can do? I have tried just running one of the 2 rads and it is still too cold.

    Flush button gets stuck

We've had this toilet for about a year and a half and the flush button has started to stick. Its a cheap toilet from B and Q. It only does it intermittently and the first you know about it is if you go in the toilet and hear the water running into the pan. The actual button pops back up...

Just completed My First Paving Job

I've just done something similar myself. Can you tell me how you did the pointing? We pushed a mix of dry 3:1 sand/cement into the gaps and then sprinkled with a watering can. The problem is that a lot of it is coming up. How did you do it wet without getting the mix all over the top of...

Cold front room and new rad, plus a complicated drawing!

This really is the last question......! I got it wrong, the thermostat IS in this room (we moved it last year and I had forgotten. Anyway because the thermostat is in the front room the existing rad does not have a TRV. Should I install a TRV on the new rad (same room)? I.e. 2 rads...
