    Mains water flooding a house?

Just a quick question. I've just had my boiler changed to a combi and now all cold taps in my house are at mains pressure. If one of these pipes ever fails how long will it pump mains water out before the water board notice? Or would they not know? Anyone have experience of a massive...

    Hoover VisionHD belt burning.

We bought a Hoover VisionHD1400AA washing machine from a 2nds shop just 2 months ago. It was brand new but had a crack in the top and so we got it quite cheap. Yesterday it stopped spinning so I took the back off and the belt had fallen off. So the first question is 'is this common/normal'...

    False ceiling

Hello ladies and gents. Can you tell me if this will be OK? My kitchen ceiling is the old type (laithe and someting??). Anyway the artex/plaster has started to come away where a few years ago we had some leaks upstairs. These have now been fixed and the ceiling is not getting any worse...

    Shock off Neutral?

I've always wondered if I could get a shock off of a Neutral terminal? I understand that Neutral is connected to Ground somewhere along the way (presumably at the power/sub station) so if I touch the neutral side of an exposed wire will I get a shock? Does it make a difference if the...

    Ceiling spotlights between the rafters

I had exactly ther same problem a few months back. The gap between the plasterboard and the roofing felt was only 10cm. I could have got the spots in but like you say they would have generated so much heat that I was worried about setting fire to the roof! I ended up putting surface mount...

    Toilet waste

OK thanks. Very last question! How do I seal them all together? Do I use the solvent stuff I have used with 40mm sink waste in the past?

    Toilet waste

Yes it is. It pokes up by about 3 or 4 inches.

    Toilet waste

OK here we go.... Its a very small room and the toilet has basically been turned 90degrees as you can see from my rough drawing. I can't get a proper pic because I'm at work at the moment.

    Toilet waste

OK, thanks for the info but what should I use instead? Can you buy white 4" waste pipe which you glue together, like the stuff you use for sink waste etc. Why won't it seal? Surely putting the back of your toilet pan into one it the same as putting one into another one?

    Toilet waste

I'm just in the process of moving as toilet which means there will be a small run for the waste from the back of the toilet and round to the sidewhere the hole in the ground is. I'm not keen on using flexible wast so wondered could I use 3 of these...
