I have allready confirmed with them that they'll be using jigs/routers sealing ends etc etc before I booked them. I'm probably not that concerened just thinking pre-warned is pre-armed (or whatever that expression is)? But thanks anyway fitter I'll clarify everything with him before he...

    Kitchen worktop cutting/fitting costs

I too have decided to get professionals to fit my work top, and after a bit of shopping about found a company who have quoted a competitive price. I have booked them and they will be doing the work shortly. However, I was wondering what I should do if they c*ck it up? What come back do I...

Ferguson 28'' widescreen TV + SKY Remote

Spoke at length with Sky customer services, but they failed to help. I had the Sky installed in Nov last year, so it's quite a new bit of kit, which I assume means the remote is quite new also so I suspect it will have blink back, not sure though? Is there any way I can tell?

Ferguson 28'' widescreen TV + SKY Remote

Well I can't find the Ferguson model on the net (I'm currently in the office so don't have access to the manual), but I found a Thomson TV which looks exactly the same. The model for this set is: 28WF45UG. Thanks.

Ferguson 28'' widescreen TV + SKY Remote

I've just purchased the TV mentioned in the subject. I've tried configuring my Sky remote to work it but cannot get the right code for the life of me (I've tried all the Ferguson/Thomson codes provided in the Sky manual). I have contacted Ferguson (Thomson) and after being grunted at by a...

    GRUNDIG TV

Started off by turning itself to standby every now and then. Now, for the first 10 - 15 mins of use (until it's 'warmed up') the screen intermittently flicks and rolls and then goes to standby! Is it worth pursuing a repair?

    plasterboard for a ceiling

I now that it is best not to have too many joins in the boards as they can crack later on, but I did find that if you cut the boards in half they are a dam sight easier to handle when putting up, and as long as you put the other half of the same board next to each other then you've got a...

    plasterboard for a ceiling

Nails can make the boards look like they are tight to the beams when in fact the board is hanging down on the nail head. When pressure is applied through skimming the nail head pops back through and you have a number of 'divots' in you ceiling. I nailed my (9.5mm) board up and when my...

    WASHER DRYER NO LONGER DRYING

I see. What you are saying makes perfect sense, perhaps i'll seek the advice of Indesit. I thank you for your time Breezer. And for what it's worth, I hate them too. They don't dry your clothes at all as well as a sperate Dryer and mine (when it worked) seemed to make the clothes more...

    WASHER DRYER NO LONGER DRYING

Thank you for your reply Breezer, I had already read your suggestions whilst browsing the forum for any related threads. I have been through all your suggested stages and am at the juncture where I have to decide whether to get somebody in or attempt to fix it myself, hence the question...

    WASHER DRYER NO LONGER DRYING

My Indesit WD12S Washer Dryer has stopped drying. The drum spins round and it works it's way through the programmes as it should, but it doesn't seem to get hot during the drying sequence. Now I'm no expert but to me this doesn't sound like anything too bad, maybe a thermostat gone? The...

    worktop jig

I am also in need of somebody to make a Worktop join for me (I did consider tackling it myself until I read these posts). I don't suppose 'Fitter' lives anywhere near Bournemouth? Failing that, can anybody recommend a compitent fitter around Bournemouth/Christchurch area? Thanks.

    patchy lawn from dog pee

I have been trying out a product called Green-UM. It is a small pill or a doggy treat that you give to your dog daily and the pill neutralises the ammonia in the Dog urine which causes lawn burn (apparently). I have been trying it for about 1 month now and I have to say it appears to be...

    Wobbling monitor display

Have you tried reducing the refresh frequency? I had flicky edges on my Monitor and reduced the refresh frequency and it solved the problem. Just a thought?

    Floor preparation/Levelling suggestions?

Thank you for the response. From your reply I gather that a thinbed screed feathered from 1 cm out to nothing is the best approach? I assume that a Self Levelling Compound would mean that I would have to level the whole Kitchen which would give me a 1 cm step in the Kitchen doorway (Before...

    Floor preparation/Levelling suggestions?

Could someone please advise on the best product to use for correcting a level discrepancy on the Kitchen floor I wish to Tile? The extended part of the Kitchen is approx 1cm higher then the main Kitchen. Both surfaces are Concrete. I attempted to lower the level of the extension floor but...

    No Hot or Cold water!

I have recently moved House and am now experiencing some odd goings on with the water flow. The House has an old 'E Type' Boiler and Cylinder with cold tank in the loft. The problem is that when I have run a Bath (a FULL Bath) all the water upstairs stops flowing (sink, Bath, Toilet)...

Adding Extra Sockets in the Kitchen +

I very much apprecitae your response securespark. After further investigation (I was sat at work typing my original post yesterday and was working from memory, which is never a good idea for me!), you are quite right. The Cooker would appear to be on a radial circuit with a 6mm cable. I'm...

Adding Extra Sockets in the Kitchen +

I just thought I'd run this past you all to see if what I'm planning is acceptable. I am in the process of renovating the Kitchen and wish to add a number of extra sockets, to do this I intend to extend the ring main. Currently there is one double socket with two 2.5mm2 cables coming to it...
