Does this loft dormer exceed the height of original roof?

Hi Freddy, it's definitely not an illegal build. It could have formal planning however my limited experience seems to be that formal planning is far more strict when it comes to dormers compared to what you can get away with under permitted. Optical illusion? I suppose so, but it does...

Does this loft dormer exceed the height of original roof?

Hi Permitted planning states that the height of a loft conversion shouldn't exceed the original roof line. Then how does somebody get this through planning where it seems the dormer height exceeds it and is the same height as the parapet wall? Thanks

Am I correct in thinking that any rear double storey extension within 2m of a boundary is not allowed under PD? Thanks

Best construction/prep method for bathroom floor?

Hi I'm having an ensuite shower room fitted into what used to be a bedroom. At the moment the floor just consists of joists and I intend to have electrical underfloor heating. In layers starting from the joists up, what should I use? (Confused about what combination of ply, insulation...

Any downsides to a 400/500 vs 300 uvc?

Thanks. Actually I can't see more than two showers running at the same time. However one might be a higher flow drench/cascade type but we'll probably end up with the same total demand that you mentioned. Out of curiousity though, what would be the downside of over speccing and getting a...

Any downsides to a 400/500 vs 300 uvc?

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't think my plumber is familiar with them and so I don't want to complicate things at this stage of the works. Also it sounds like a Thermal store and I'm removing one of those to have the unvented fitted. May I ask what you feel about the 400 vs 300...

Any downsides to a 400/500 vs 300 uvc?

Hi I'm in the process of having my heating system upgraded. I need to choose an indirect uvc and my plumber thinks a 300l is fine. As I have 4 shower rooms I wouldn't mind over speccing a little. So apart from the initial purchase cost are there any down sides to me choosing a 400 litre...

    Would this require BR approval

No definitely not like that! It has to be of the right proportions and the window has to be made from timber.

    Would this require BR approval

I suspect that you are wrong! :) I've posted the first pic before in relation to other questions including planning issues. I've never (as far as I can remember) asked regarding bregs.

What causes a wall to bow?

Thanks Ronny. The bowing is very very evident to the naked eye and so I'm assuming Joe Public would walk away from it come resale time? Also you say the new wall would have to be restrained to prevent rebowing? Wouldn't the new wall be built using modern practices that would prevent this...
