    well u got to make sure its not solvent welded for a start and fairy liquid rots the seals you can use silicone grease but its doubtfull it will penetrate into the jointwithout any movement

    you should be able to fix through the existing plasterboard through to the existing joists make a hole the one end of the room through the plasterboard to locate the joists mark them with a pencil on the ceiling then do the same the other end of the room then use a chalk line to mark the line...
