Silly q's about running pipework in concrete floor and walls

@expertgasman.. I have considered this approach - the closest wall to the radiator houses the gas and electric mains; the previous owner must have felt this was too ugly to be seen in the living room so built a half height cabinet around it. So i believe that wall is not an option. If i...

Silly q's about running pipework in concrete floor and walls

Thats good news ... hopefully i am talking total boll**. I based my assumption on my memory of drilling into the gable end wall and there being no block. However my memory could be deceiving me; it was a long long time ago.. Thanks

Silly q's about running pipework in concrete floor and walls

@Agile Thanks for the reply. Yes your right my phrasing of "outer wall" is irrelevant - sorry. What i meant to imply/say was that the wall in question is not an internal wall but is the permiter brick wall. As far as i know its straight onto brick - the house was built circa 1970's...

Silly q's about running pipework in concrete floor and walls

Hi sorry if these questions have been asked before but I have searched the forums and have not found an answer. In my front room I have an unsightly CH pipe drop in the middle of the wall. I dont want to box this pipe in because (a) it will look silly with a box section sticking out the wall...

How do i attach wood to single skin plasterboard

Hi I have a related question(s) .... Should i build the internal skin with plasterboard or use plywood or even MDF. Will i need to insulate/vent as the current cupboard has an odour and looks abit damp in corners; the back of the cupboard is direct onto brick. I am tempted to use MDF...

How do i attach wood to single skin plasterboard

No.. what it is is cupbard that goes over the stairs. The bottom third of the cupboard has support and has been shelved off to support the weight of the old tank.. The latter 2 thirds just seems to be a large piece of plasterboard attached to a stud at the ceiling. Hope that makes sense!

How do i attach wood to single skin plasterboard

@JohnD Doh...why didnt i think of that.. i just need to attach horizontally to the bottom and ceiling and build a frame around that. Kind of obvious really.. Thanks

How do i attach wood to single skin plasterboard

@PrenticeBoyofDerry I meant it is only one half of a stud wall.

How do i attach wood to single skin plasterboard

I have a (probably) silly problem. I am trying to build a wardrobe inside an old airing cubboard but am struggling to think how I can affix the shelf rails. The cupboard is build out from the corner of the room. The problem is that the walls of the cupbard are single thickness plasterboard...

    16 day bathroom project

Hi I know this an old post - but i really like your bathroom floor. I want something similar where the vinyl goes up the wall - rather than the norm of being laid flat. Can you tell me who did the work for you please. Did you have to do any specific preperation prior to it being fittd -...

Do i need a frame for a wall hung wc

Whitespirit66 - Thanks for the reply. Appreciated. Just so i am absolutely 100% certain should this have read "You only need a [pan] frame when it's a wall hung toilet like this one. Also - When i look at your message in preview mode i can see an image of a wall mounted toilet but...

Do i need a frame for a wall hung wc

Hi Can somebody please clarify (what is probably a stupid question), for a concealed WC do i always need to buy a frame for the cistern or can they just be bolted to the wall... I have been looking at the bathstore range of MyRoom products and looking at the "MyRoom 600 WC unit " i am...

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy doors

Just a quick question Does anyone know if anyone is doing discounts on 686 mm white 6 panel moulded doors? I am looking for discounts on 4 or more doors. All the offers I can find are on the larger door sizes. Best price i have seen is from B&Q at £33 each - 6 panel pre-painted white...

Door image mock up, can I place handles in this position

Moving and filling the old latch hole looks like the simplest solution... I was just worried it would look a bit messy - but i guess a lick of paint will soon hide the mess

Door image mock up, can I place handles in this position

Thanks for the reply That is what i thought ... i was confused becuase not only does Wickes show the handles in this position but also B and Q and others. To use the existing latch mounts which are higher than the lock block on the doors i have seen do i have no choice other than to buy...

Door image mock up, can I place handles in this position

I am looking to replace my old doors and have seen these doors from Wickes. They are 6 panel pre painted moulded doors (cheapies) I know this probably sounds stupid, but I was under the impression that the door handles had to go in the lock block of the door. In the images on the website...
