Floorboard access, instead of JB's can i use WAGO connectors

I have been informed that screwed JB's are not allowed under floorboards even if the floorboards are screwed down. Instead of JB's can i use WAGO connectors (i dont fancy crimping or soldering) to alleviate this - as they are screwless?

Please help - naive electrical calculations dont add up

Thanks for the reply..that is bad news :( So to clarify, screwing a floorboard back down over the JB is not acceptable. The confusing bit is that there are JB's screwed all over the place currently in situ; are these acceptable because the house was built before new laws came in?? I am...

Please help - naive electrical calculations dont add up

It is my intention to lift the floorboards and screw the JB's to sides of the joists then screw the floorboards back down. As i have to lift the floor anyway to run the new lighting circuit, so may as well just do it all in one go. What is the definition of accessible ?, everywhere in the...

Please help - naive electrical calculations dont add up

Thanks for all the reply's -- much appreciated. As an aside - is the work i plan on doing notifiable. Basically i intend to :- Downstairs :: a) Change existing ceiling rose to a JB and install 2 downlights. b) Replace one way switch with a two way and route 3 core cable to...

Please help - naive electrical calculations dont add up

LoveRocket (felt weird typing that), thanks for your reply. A big thanks for clarifying the fact my lights are radials not rings as i originally assumed. One thing does confuse me; could you elaborate more on what you mean by the statement Thanks for your help thus far. PS.. I...

Do i have to clip cable in the void ceiling and floorboard

Hi, I hope someone can clarify for me. I am moving a lightswitch from one side of a stud wall to another. Lifting a floorboard from above i can see the original switching cable has been clipped to one side of the joists. Having decided to run new switch cable from the ceiling rose to...

Using plastic hose within plastic tube for radiator drops

Lol - Point taken 8) I just want to understand my options and the pros and cons of each method. I have seen the US style of fitting and they seem to run hoses to a junction box / faceplate behind the radiator and then finish of the final runs with cupper

Using plastic hose within plastic tube for radiator drops

Ok So - if i use copper - clip it to the brickwork and then place plastic conduit over the top (the same conduit used if the pipe is exposed on the wall) and then plaster over the top of the conduit. Will this be legal ?? As the pipe will no longer be accessible This is the reasoning for...

Using plastic hose within plastic tube for radiator drops

I have no choice.. I just hate seeing pipework so I am going to bury it somehow/someway!! Can anybody suggest a suitable method of hiding pipework in plaster

Using plastic hose within plastic tube for radiator drops

I was contemplating "Hep20" - would this suffice? Would it expand that much considering the tube would be inside a plastic tube? The intention was to bury it deep in the walls and then plaster over the top. Are there any better solutions? I just want rid of the exposed pipeword

Using plastic hose within plastic tube for radiator drops

Hi I want to hide my hideous copper radiator pipework within the walls. All the downstairs radiators are on drops due to the fact my house has solid concrete floors. For simplicity I plan on cutting into the "T" piece at the top of the copper drop pipe and running a continuous plastic...

How can i work out the size of cable for cooker?

I am talking about the circuit cabling As far as i can tell the L & N are stranded -- I need to remove the wall junction box cover and look at the circuit cabling to be 100% certain tho. Sorry I do not quite understand this one .. Overall dimensions of ??? the sheathing or the cable...

How can i work out the size of cable for cooker?

This is my issue really -- I do not want to take the risk ! I need a definitive way of knowing, but just looking at the cable itself i have no way of knowing. Should i just buy 1" of 4mm & 6mm cabling and compare? Is this really my only option? I am sure its not 4mm but i need to be on...

How can i work out the size of cable for cooker?

That was what i was looking for... As the old cooker was only 5kw then 4mm cable would have sufficed - so I was guessing that the 30amp breaker could be overkill... When calculating the x-section of the wire..if its multistranded cable is it the size of all wires combined?

How can i work out the size of cable for cooker?

I need to replace my current (broken) cooker. The cooker currently in use is a Zanussi ZHF865X and is rated at 5.5kw which i calculate as ~23amps (5500/240). The currnt circuit breaker attached to this ring is a B30 (which i assume is a 30amp breaker). This seems massive overkill and surely...
