it will wreck the boards at a later date. especially if powder adhesive is used, and if you have large tiles then powder adhesive is advised. you could have the walls skimmed...... only if your tiles are not large ones because the weight limit per m2 will be reduced to 20kg m2

stud it first ie. build a frame then fix aquapanel to the frame and tile away. use good quality adhesive/grout and flexible and waterproof

i normally get the materials for the customer so as the right ones are chosen. depends what tiles you have and i think your 'tiler' should of at least given you a materials list of what to buy, ie. correct adhesive (tubbed/powder), grout, silicones etc. but if ur in doubt about what...
