Use a bonding plaster (carlite) to lay a thick coat . Then skim using multi finish.

Depends on the size of the wall, if its not to big an area it would pay to have the whole wall skimmed. :P

Use multifinish ,no need for pva , use scrim tape on the board joins ,tack the beads on with nails. 8)

For best results have it skimmed

Two or 3 scratch coats should bring the wall out flat.

What i mean is the thicker areas do not close down so well. or am i closing it down to soon

Have no problem skimming half decent walls but has anyone any advice on skimming a wall where some of the old plaster is blown and render falls away. Have built areas up with backing plaster (carlite) but struggle to gain same results when laying onto these areas as u tend to have to build it up...

Two good coats of PVA

Use Thistle multi finish Two coats and PVA the wall first.

Get a plasterer to re skim the ceilings .

Should be ok then
