Yep no problems 2 coats of multifinish no need to seal boards just scrim tape the joins , if u r doing it yourself practice on a bit of board first.Good luck.

As Roughcaster says once you can get 2 coats on with the same mix it will save you a lot of time.

I always render ,a couple of scratch coats then final coat and then skim with no problems .The mix should be 4x1 with some optimix.

Seems like he skimmped and applied only One coat of multi fiish instead of 2 and your walls should be smooth and flat.

Marshalltown 13x5 is what i use

When saying better results i mean keeping with the character of the house eg not all walls need to be square like a new build. Most of my customers on older proberties prefer undulating smooth walls keeping the character of the house.

Redered and skimmed many barn convertions ,much better results than dry lining but a lot more effort and cost.

Two coats of multi finish ,no need to pva .

No problem plastering over artex ceilings ive done loads of them . Think he is trying to rip you off
