Lifting heavy blocks and arthritic style hand & feet joints

Yeah I mean it's been caused by the lifting and setting of the blocks that I am sure. I didn't expect it to effect the toes though! Been several weeks now, not sure if it's getting better, living with it.

Lifting heavy blocks and arthritic style hand & feet joints

Just wondering if anyone else has had this. Beforehand I had nothing. I built a retaining wall about two months ago. As a DIY'r it was hard going, I lifted/cemented over 400 x 20kg blocks into place. I'm 42yr old and just get on with stuff. Now I wake up with dull pain of sort in my knuckles...

Today's entertainment... holes under structural beams

He would definitely have known about there being an RSJ, there's nothing else going to support a 3M gap in the wall. Unless that is he lacked common sense... The guy was obviously a bit of a plonker, he mounted the boiler on a drywall piece so he could align the drywall piece with the flue hole...

Today's entertainment... holes under structural beams

I don't have one so it's not being plugged until a builder doing RSJ work arrives. I don't fancy my chances without!

Today's entertainment... holes under structural beams

It was 1984 in the north of England, miners became builders with no training or experience. They were in a trade for which they had no love and the house build is abysmal. The company went bust 5-10 years later. RSJ is resting on one block which is resting on two blocks but one as you can see...

Today's entertainment... holes under structural beams

Awful build from 1984, no padstone, long 3M lintel has some deflection in it. Builders stuck the original boiler vent less than two blocks directly under the lintel. It's the gable end but the lower wall extends some to a garage. 2013 new boiler was installed with flue above the hole. Do gas...

Hyundai Plate Compacter (Wacker) HYCP9070 Info Thread

Yeah the smaller versions are repackages of Chinese things. It does say it's a Hyundai engine made under license. Hopefully being large it'll have a long and lazy life. I'm using it on self-binding gravel front and back, after that not sure. Jewson is £25 a day to rent one, but being rained off...

Hyundai Plate Compacter (Wacker) HYCP9070 Info Thread

Not much on google so I thought I'd start something for it to pick up. I bought the largest version on ebay. It had 15% off for a reconditioned unit making it £330. This is as cheap as it comes unless you buy Evolutions 'Rage' electric thing. It arrived in two days by Palletline, so excellent...

    Does black guttering always bleach?

I'm against waste so I've reconditioned some of the fittings with spray paint. The tubes however will cost more in paint. :)

    Does black guttering always bleach?

My pipes are completely bleached but joining and end pieces aren't. All are floplast (40 year old) but I figure they're made from different plastics.

    Does black guttering always bleach?

That sounds like a reasonable compromise!

    Does black guttering always bleach?

Per the title really. Mine has and I'm wondering whether to scrap it all and go white.

Type 1 MOT with cement as a driveway surface?

I have a sample of these coming from Jewson, although JTDove have actually sourced self-binding gravel. I'll go with that if it's the real deal.

    Soil Pipe Identification (100, 120mm?)

HepSleve it is! I ended up using a small stainless cat food bowl from B&M, it fits like a glove!

    Soil Pipe Identification (100, 120mm?)

The house was built 1984. The clay gully I removed has an internal diameter of 120mm and inner of 100mm. The pipe has a rubber adapter on it, I didn't remove but also think it's a 120mm to 100mm adapter (I had it a few month ago where the pipe was definitely not 110mm but there was a 100 to...

What is the surface used in countryside style carparks?

That's one of them, there's maybe a dozen quarries doing it, however 'scalpings' appears to be exactly the same stuff - limestone 'contaminated' with clay. https://www.jewson.co.uk/p/mot-scalpings-bulk-bag-AGSTB017 This one is exactly the same spec as Breedon but 1/3 the price -...

What is the surface used in countryside style carparks?

I've also just come across 'scalpings' which looks even more like it, apparently quarry waste stones contaminated with clay. Looks like I do a layer of MOT type 1 then scalpings on top.

What is the surface used in countryside style carparks?

Yes, which is Type 1 MOT (limestone variant). The only difference from this and Hoggin from what I can tell is lack of clay.

Type 1 MOT with cement as a driveway surface?

Following on from my self-binding gravel query I'm wondering if Type 1 MOT is basically similar stuff (Composition wise it appears similar with limestone and lots of fines). The reason I ask is self-binding is proving difficult to find in the North of England and is also 3x the cost. It's also...

What is the surface used in countryside style carparks?

I'm not sure about cheap, it's proving very expensive! I do like it though, has lots of wins.
