    Replacing a Powermax boiler

Don't replace it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They will rip you off in an instant, and install a brand new boiler (if they turn up that is) and make a killing when its highly likely the boiler can be repaired for a small fee !!!!!!!!

    Replacing a Powermax boiler

Ok, well a very similar same thing happened to me with my Powermax 185 boiler, but with persistence I managed to sort the leak out, and not go along with what all the rip off merchants kept suggesting - ie replacement rather than spend £2 on a new fibre washer and 10 mins labour !!! Not all...

    Replacing a Powermax boiler

Why keep assuming the boiler needs replacement, I still think the boiler is probably salvagable (in my experience !!) Could you post a picture of the leak/problem ? Few engineers like the IMI Range Powermaxes and 9/10 times just recommend replacement, when its not necessarily the best...

    Replacing a Powermax boiler

I know that they are thermal stores, but I bet its a leak from a joint, and the engineer whats to make easy money from it. Loads of people on my estate have these boilers, and many have had this problem I'm describing.

    Replacing a Powermax boiler

Hi Lagan, Interesting topic this one, as it sounds like you have a similar problem to what I had. Where exactly is the leak ??? I suspect it may be possible to fix the leak, but they are saying they can't to make easy money. If it's a small tee pipe that connects onto the tank with a...

Powermax 155x intermittent hot water problems.

Why don't you people try answering MacGee sensibly, he has clearly stated its a Powermax 155x, so why ask what the model is ?? MacGee, I would expect ithe culprit to be the blender valve thats at fault, a notorious problem on these boilers, as they scale up easily. Part No. P757 - Blender...

    Powermax 185 Boiler

Hi, I have recently drained down my Powermax 185 boiler to solve a leak on a bolt connection onto the copper cylinder. I want to treat the system, I've got some Fernox F3 cleaner to descale it and some Fernox F1 to Protect it afterwards. I need some advice on how to apply the Fernox for best...

Thanks for the reply. Do I add the treatments to the tank in the loft though or through the radiator ????? Thanks,

    Fernox Treatment Help Please

Hi, I had to drain down my Powermax 185 boiler store the other day, and now want to descale and inhibit the system to hopefully prolong the life of the boiler. I have a tank in the loft which feeds the boiler store, do I simply add Fernox descaling treatment to the tank, and then re-drain...

    Potterton powermax 155x

I would agree that it's not the PCB's at fault, Its always the easy diagnosis, and in my experience with the 185 Powermax (which has caused me endless grief in the last year), it won't be the PCB. It sounds like the gas valve is causing the problem, or the electrode - gap isn't sufficient to...

    Powermax 155 Boiler

By the way that plumber who saids its a feature of the boiler is talking absolute nonsense, and obviously is wary of dealing with Powermax boilers. Steer clear of him. When working properly these boilers output very good hot water flow, just when you need it.

    Powermax 155 Boiler

Hi, No one on this site understands how Powermax boilers work. It sounds to me like a heat exchanger problem, as its not storing sufficient hot water output. The main culprit will always be the blender valve (Part No. P757) scaling up badly - but you have just changed that part. You need...

    Powermax 155 Thermostatic Blending Valve

Superduper, what are you talkin about. He requires Part P757, check the Parts Center website.... http://www.partscenter.co.uk/parts/index.html £100.99 for P757 Blender Valve for a Powermax 155 boiler

    Powermax 155 Thermostatic Blending Valve

    Fernox F3

Hi, I am planning on descaling my Range Powermax 185 boiler, as it makes a lot of noise when on especially first thing in the mornings. How do I effectively carry this out with Fernox for example ? Do you apply it in via the radiators ? Also, how long do I leave it in there for before...
