I got sun burned last week,was like a boiled effin lobster,took day off today :roll: too dammed hot but in tomorrow and rest off week :cry:

Wondering if any other roofers start early when the weather is hot,like now?We get on job by 6am and leave at 1pm,no dinner break though.Gets to dammed hot to be on a roof in the afternoons :roll: .

I would use ring shanks,i live in the cumbrian fells and have nailed lots of ply on flat roofs and none have ever came off in high winds.

A roof vent on its own wont really do any good as you need some sort of extracter ie vent on roof and vent in ceiling/wall.To only put the vent on the roof will only aid air flow between felt and tiles not roof to attic.Hope this helps.

What i mean is it will not stick to his feet in warm weather like bitumastic and then end up on his carpets,only going to be a small areas anyway where blisters are + only likley to be slippery when wet,stop picking faults :wink: :lol:

Not so,i use epdm if need be BUT 90+% of flat roofing i do is with high performance t/o sbs un/min.Its far from straw and mud.Looks far better than epdm and will last a hell of a long time.One of the main reasons felt roofs have a bad name is the jokers laying it=Builders come felters,slaters...

Many years ago appx 1989/90 i done a roof with norweigen slate,it was green ish and each slate was 16 or 18 x 12,i must admit these slate appeared to be good.I dont know the cost as the guy sourced the slates himself.Anyone else ever used these and if so what do you think of them and cost?

The £1400 seems about right to me,id be very wary of the other quotes.Its probabbly not what you want to hear though.Also many guatantees are not worth the paper they are written on.

The insulation kits are optional and yes celotex cut and fixed would do the same job more or less.

I recently bought a cheap angle grinder and it knackered after around 8 month.I went back to buying bosch.I suppose it depends alot on how much you use it.Then again i bought a cheat(toolmaster) rip saw and its every bit as good as my old bosch,decissions decissions...... :wink:
